Jessica had arrived with her brother, Bryant, at the employee orientation. Had she anyone that she'd be bringing as a date? No. So Bryant it was. At least her brother would keep her entertained, and if she felt too awkward socializing (a rarity, really, since she was formerly PAID to socialize, really) she would at least have his cheerfulness to keep her company. She didn't think she would need to rely on him in that way, but he was there anyway. And perhaps he could need a nice girl who was ACTUALLY cool, unlike that EX of his.
But enough holding grudges. The newly minted IMC employee was dressed professionally chic, as usual, and was watching everything with wide, interested eyes. Her brother may not appreciate what an exquisite and rare event it was to see the Corpse Flower unfurl itself, but Jessica thought it was so lovely and appropriate. Plus, the vibes of the greenhouse were nice. Mellow and colorful, wasn't it? While she didn't have an affinity for plants, she would certainly be respectful.
It was only once she was a little ways in, nodding at strangers here and there (and where had Bryant gone?!) when she noticed a VERY familiar face, one that made her lips curl into the delicious of smirks.
David Truebridge.
Her Beauty and the Brains partner was here, at the ministry? Was he new, too? He looked as awkward as she would think he would, but he was with a girl....she wondered if it were his date. Well, fat chance it was an actual date. The poor bloke had nearly choked when she asked him for drinks once they had finished their gameshow debut, but she demurely glided over towards the man.
"David....how lovely to see you. Are you..did you just start here as well?" she asked with a wicked glint to her eye. She also held out her hand for the woman with him [Genny]. "Hi. Jessica Tomás. Foreign Relations Officer. Lovely to meet you as well. David and I go waaaaay back. A whole...four months," she teased, hoping to get a rise from him.
Was bothering David Truebridge going to be a new work-time hobby? SHh. No one tell her nearby boss, who Jessica made a mental note to speak with in a second. She wanted to formally say hello and all!
She heard a yelp and glanced round, wondering if someone had been hurt - or CAUSED DAMAGE - to a plant. Weren't they all trained adults here?
