Finally, the room fell quiet. A silence only broken by the occasional rustle of bedsheets and hypnotic stirs. Her hands reached for a folder she kept underneath her bed.

Wand between her teeth, she measured her breaths and set out the pieces of parchment so that they surrounded her like a fortress.

Carefully, she added a single mark to each assignment. The steady stroke was undetectable, but she still worried silently.

There was no need. Her work was outstanding.

Only a moment’s hesitation. She leaned down and blew, watching the color darken.
