I don’t think it’s so much the professors brushing it off so much as not wanting to incite panic. (At least with Malachi). They’re not muggles and they don’t think the students should be freaking out every time something seems off. They’re not entirely defenseless and shouldn’t be so quick to write things off as impossible or too dangerous to continue they’re education
school is meant to prepare them for the wider magical world that is full of just about anything and with the talk being of storms, battening down wouldn’t be difficult, nor would sending them home. Except, lol, the storm decided no one’s going home
