"HI SCHMOE! I LIKE YOUR YO-YO," the third year bellowed, skipping excitedly to a seat at one of the round tables. Naturally, she had to touch one of the papers in the middle of the table. Just a touch, though, just a caress of the finest Dunder Mifflin quality printer paper, and then she'd leave it alone. She settled back in her seat with a big smile, all full of confidence that she'd know ALL THE ANSWERS to this class.

Was Finneas surprised that Bernadette Grantham was the first student to arrive to his class? In short: No. He was trying to be less surprised about anything that had Grantham's named involved. Gryffindors made that a little difficult though, they were a very unpredictable bunch. AnYwAy. "Hullo, good afternoon Ms. Grantham," wHY WAS SHE BELLOWING??? "....." He watched as she................ caressed the paper? He had.............. several questions.

The Gryffindor suddenly appeared in the doorway and gave Schmoe a wave. "Hi, Professor!" His eyes were drawn to the man's yo-yo as he walked in. "Hey, you're pretty good at that!" Morgan had never tried to play with one of those before, but it looked fun.

And where to sit? He spotted Bernie pretty much immediately, since she was the only other one there, and headed straight over to sit at her table. "Hey, Bernie!" But his attention was very quickly drawn to the papers on the table, not because they were particularly interesting, but because they were turned over and he wanted to know what was on the other side even though they weren't supposed to touch them. "What do you think is on the other side?" he asked his tablemate.

Fortunately, his questions were put on pause when the next Gryffindor student arrived. Ah, Mr. McCarthy. Always with the words to say. "Hullo, Mr. McCarthy, thank you very much." He was working up to a RECORD. Maybe he'd teach a class about yo-yos some day. A man could dream.

“Good afternoon, Professor Schmoe,” she blinked, trying to pretend that she did not yawn just a moment ago. Oh, a yo-yo! She smiled at the professor, who seemed to be having fun playing with the toy. She then grabbed a seat at an empty table and stared mindlessly at the stack of blank paper at the center. She hoped the lesson would be fun...!

"Huuuulloooooooooo Ms. Morin," Finneas smiled over in her direction as the Ravenclaw went to find an empty table. You know who DID get plenty of sleep last night? Finneas. You know who was Schmoeeee excited about class? Also Finneas. Hopefully Jina would get to that point as well. Ho ho ho. AnYwAy.

Now, just about everyone was commenting on the yoyo but none of their comments was a Yoyo comment. "Hello Professor Schmoe... Look, it's a little me!" She said, pointing to the spinning namesake with enthusiasm. She paused for laughter. It was a good one, she knew.

The Third-Year waved to Bernadette, and Morgan, and to seventh year Jina whom she took a seat beside. "Good afternoon, how's your day been?" Yolanda asked her seatmate as she smoothed out her black and yellow skirt.

Finneas went back to his yo-yoing as Jina went to find her seat. Lovely day to break a world record, wasn't it? He smiled at the very thought. So much so that he smiled even bigger (and weirder) when Ms. Yoyo made her way into class. The little ones terrified him a little bit (they were practically toddlers), but the young Hufflepuff had such lovely energy surrounding her. "HEH HEH HEH," he SNORTED in response to her JOKE. How clever. "That it is," he wagged his finger at her, still working off the residual laughter. Did he forget to say hello? Only because he was still laughing.

Before she took a seat at the back and kicked the other three chairs away from the table. Other people? No thanks.

Did Professor Schmoe continue to find Odaline to be the most frightening thing since Barn Owls? Yes. Her big smile was met with a hesitant one from Professor Schmoe, who was trying very hard to not look like he was about to tinkle winkle in his pants.

......................... Why. Why was it always with the seats. His hands twitched as if he were about to say something, but when the next student arrived, he decided against it. Maybe it would be for the best that she sat alone. Er. Less students she could bite that way.

The Gryffindor gave a general “Hello” to her classmates as she moved on through the room. She had her choice of seats and she chose to be the first one at an empty table. She sat down, gathered the things she needed for class and put her bag on the floor. Today she would get her pre-class entertainment by watching Schmoe and his yo-yo. Yes, that would definitely keep her attention.

Naya was quite the juxtaposition walking in directly after Odaline. Where as Odaline was absolutely scary as heckle, Naya was polite and diligent and always came with a greeting. Thank you. Thank you very much. "Hello, Ms. Naya. I hope you are well!" He smiled extra brightly at the compliment on his yo-yo. Perhaps he ought to do a super cool trick with it or something.

Please don't be ANYTHING ABOUT A BABY. PLEASE. (Not even about a pet, okay? please)

This was exactly what was going through Missa's mind as she entered the class. Word to word. This small silent prayer had become almost like a habit now whenever she entered her head of house's class.

Smiling at the man, she greeted him before joining Jina at her table, "hello hello"

No babies, no problem! The only babies in class today would be first years. HA. Anyway. Anyway. Anway. Finneas always felt a little more at ease when his prefects were around. He was #blessed with the #best, as the kids would say. Heh. Ho. Ho. Ho. "Good afternoon, Prefect Renaldi." He watched, swaying just a bit as she made her way towards Jina's table. A good pair, they would be.

"Hey Morgan!" Bernie replied to her yearmate/housemate. Hmmmm.... Bernie had a few ideas about what was on the other side of the papers, but she didn't want Schmoe to hear yet, and she WAS sitting awfully close to the front of the room.

She leaned in toward Morgan and dropped her voice a little. "I think they're glossy headshots of his sister. He probably printed them out here in the Muggle Studies lab. She's a model. Schmoe had a picture of her in his office." She'd seen it, totally. As to WHY he would bring photographs of his sister to class? "We're probably going to put together Muggle family photo albums for him."

And she didn't mind helping the professor, naw. Was it sad to make your students put together your photo albums because you didn't have kids of your own to do it for you? Maybe. But Schmoe was only like.... 22 or something anyway, so he was too young for kids of his own, bless his heart.

.......................................... It's a very good thing Schmoe heard exactly none of that. Including the thought process. Or maybe he did hear and pretended like he didn't. No one could ever know. Anyway, AnYwAy, ANYWAY.

She spotted Odaline right away, and steeeeeered in the opposite directon. Part of her wanted to sit close to her just be irritating, but she figured for her own sanity, she'd just stay away. She nodded at the Ravenclaw prefect, Missa, who she only noted because she was the one who had pulled Aboli into jazzercise. She seemed nice enough! AND was a prefect, so she was probably veeeeeery popular, and Aboli just wanted FRIENDS okay?

"Good day, Professor Schmoe. You must be a pro - I can never do the yo-yo well." She said as she took a seat at an empty table.

Ahhahaha, she rhymed. Did she realize? Whether or not it was done purposefully, Finneas smiled big. "Good day, Ms. Song," he was only a little sheepish. "Why thank you, I'm--OH! Mayhaps we can have a yo-yo working sessions during an upcoming lunch hours." He was going to tell her all about the record he was working towards, but her comment had an idea brewing in his noggin' and wouldn't it be fun to have thirty students in his office working on their yo-yo skills during lunch?

On second thought.... He'd have to workshop it.

Nevertheless, she forced a smile on her face as she greeted Professor Schmoe with a friendly wave. “Good afternoon, Professor!” Schmoe might be a little odd, but she generally liked the guy. She noticed him playing with one of those weird yo-yo muggle toys. Muggles were really entertained by the silliest things, weren’t they?

She glanced around the room for a place to sit and decided to join a Slytherin girl (Aboli) who was about her age, and who she had seen hanging out with Kimmie a few times. Avalon greeted the girl with a smile before plopping down in a chair. Boy, did she hope that those papers didn’t have diagrams of yo-yos on them. Now that would be a boring lesson.

Skipping lunch was a necessary evil at times. Finneas skipped quite a bit whenever he was working towards an upcoming deadline in his graduate studies. Kids though? They needed it. They were GROWING. Finneas would have told her as much too, if he knew. As it was, however, he smiled. "Ms. Sinclair," he nodded in greeting.

Yes, she wanted to flip it over and touch it but she wasn’t going to. She was just making her way into the room as confidently as ever. “Hello Professor Schmoe, nice yo-yo…” she smiled as she made her way and grabbed an empty seat at an empty table.

Slinking further into her seat the Gryffindor just stifled a small yawn, what, who cared if she was yawning? Right. It wasn’t like she would ever deign to think Professor Schmoe were boring – that was impossible.

"Hello and thank you," he gave her an awkward smile right back as she made her way to an empty seat. He did catch the yawn, but there wasn't much he could do. Errrrr. Hopefully she would wake up as class went on, yeah? Because, er, sleeping during class would mean disciplinary action and Finneas did not enjoy handing out detentions or taking away points. He avoided doing so as much as possible, actually.

His head went up, and down, and up, and down, following the path of the yoyo. "You're pretty good at that." Alexandre wanted to try. Were there more yoyos for all of them? He looked around the room but that did not appear to be the case. Just some papers on the tables. Well. Okay then.

He moved to find a place to sit. None of his friends were there yet but that was okay, he liked making new friends. He spotted a girl from his house (Avalon) who he knew was a year below him. And she was sitting by a Slytherin girl (Aboli) who he was pretty sure was in his year and new at Hogwarts. He took one of the empty seats at their table and smiled. "Hi, I'm Alexandre!" He had seen them around, of course, but never really talked to them. And he wasn't very good at names unless he really knew the person so it was probably best to introduce himself in case they didn't know his name either. "Mind if I sit with you?"

Finneas tried to make Muggle Studies fun, he really did. It was hard though, y'know? He wasn't as ~ in touch with the youthful culture ~ as he wanted to be. "Er... Hellooooooooooo Alexandre!" Finneas tried to greet the young Ravenclaw with just as much enthusiasm. "Years of practice, Mr. Pascal." He tapped his forehead with the finger that was not attached to string.

He enjoyed the class but growing up as a muggle, it was all…too easy for him. Until the lessons focused on the differences and the impact of muggle things on wizards. Then he’d start to pay attention. Until then, he’d simply sit at one of the usual round desks.

”Good afternoon Professor he called over to his head of house as he walked in, half amused at the yo-yo in his hands. Seeing muggle things at Hogwarts always amused him. It was just…the reactions that wizards had to the muggle things. Always different. Always funny. ”Any reason for the yo-yo professor? Or is it just for the fun of it?”. He was pretty sure it had to have some kind of meaning. But, why just a yo-yo? Where was the Rubix cube? What about the slinky?

Somewhat confused by the ‘It’s me' comment from one of the younger Hufflepuffs, the Ravenclaw swerved the table with non-listening Gryffindor (Bernadette) and made his way over to a table with another Gryffindor he didn’t know (Islay). ”Mind if I join your table?” he asked politely, not really giving her a choice as he was already taking a seat.

Annnnnnd ANOTHA ONE. Prefect, that is. Ravenclaw was two for two. Excellent. He gave Ewan a salute as the boy called over. "'afternoon Mr. Jones!" he was feeling quite good today. "OH?" FINALLY he could TELL SOMEONE. "I'm working up to a world record, actually," he BEAMED proudly. And stared at a point just beyond Ewan's head.

Her gaze followed the movement of the object for a few more seconds before she turned to survey the class.

She ignored Bernie and her table completely, and the tables with the sixth and seventh years. The latter usually bunched together with those of their own year and they gave off the anti-social vibe in Claudine’s opinion. She might as well choose who she would sit with since if she chose to sit alone, those who she had no intention of socialising with might join her. In the end, she chose the table with Aboli, Avalon and Alexandre.

“Hello,’’ Claudine greeted and slipped into the last seat.

So.... Some people did not like sitting at tables. As an introvert himself, he understood the pain. But there were times when it was necessary and tables encouraged collaboration. WHICH he wanted plenty of during his lessons. So. Alas. "Good day, Ms. Blaze," his eyes followed the Slytherin as she made her way to sit at a table. If he were good at picking up on these ~social~ things, he may have wondered why she wasn't sitting with Ms. Grantham. As it was though, he didn't even notice. Blink. Blink. Blink.

Not seeing her sister yet, she opted for the table with Islay there, just as Ewan sat down there as well.

"Hey Islay. Ewan." She nodded at the two of them politely, before eying the stack of papers. Okay, so Schmoe had told them not to look, but was it just Carsyn who when someone said NOT to do something, it made her want to do it more? Besides he was preoccupied, right? Soooo one small peek couldn't hurt?? She continued to stare at the stack for much longer than she should have

Temptation was real.

Excuse you, Ms. Rose. He was paying plenty of attention. He could multitask very terribly. "Good afternoon, Prefect Rose." "Hi Professor Schmoe. I need to ask you someth---- " he stopped speaking and looked up and down and up and down at the yoyo. "That's a Yoyo right? Can i try?"

There were a few times in a professors life when growth of his students was VERY visible. Not just the tall growing kind of growth but the type that happens ~within~. Schmoe was pretty sure he was witnessing the cusp of that in Mr. Yoon. A good kid. "Hello, Mr.

Oh. He smiled and nodded. There was no way he'd finish the record before class started anyway. "Of course you can," he zip zip ziiiiipped the yoyo up to his hand again and held it out for the Hufflepuff to try. He had an extra in his back pocket. So, er, they could each yo-yo a bit.

"Hello, Professor Schmoe." She greeted, because she'd apparently already learned her lessons the Professor's did prefer to be properly greeted at the start of classes. Which was usually the nicer thing to do, but she would still prefer to sneak in without having to talk to anyone.

K could see most of her acquaintances scattered around, but she also noticed a younger student who was at a table by himself (Tom) and she decided to try joining him instead. Making her way to the fairly empty table, she pointed at one of the open seats, "You mind if I join you?" It was a polite thing to ask, but she was also already sitting because it was awkward to just stand there. If he would prefer to sit alone, she could always just move later. She reached her hand across the table in greeting, "I'm Kimberly Amstern."

She eyed the papers sitting in the middle of the table, turned face down so they couldn't read them. She was quite curious to see what today's lesson had in store for them. She would guess yo-yo's, but also it was quite possible that was just the Professor killing time while he waited for them.

Who knew.

Another Hufflepuff to come in right after a Hufflepuff. Maybe all things really did come in pairs. He gave her an awkward smile. "Good afternoon, Ms. Amstern." He watched as she made her way to sit.

"Hello, Professor," he greeted, acknowledging the man with a polite nod as he walked into the room. His dark eyes followed the yo-yo up and down, up and down, and he smiled. He used to have a yo-yo sort of like that when he was a little kid, except his lit up and had a picture of Darth Vader on the front. "Is that a light-up yo-yo or just a plain one?"

Heath blinked, finally getting a good look at the layout of the room. The tables, the papers… This setup reminded him a lot of a restaurant, but that didn't make sense. Restaurants meant food, and the rules said there was no food allowed in class. So if not restaurants, what was the lesson about? He supposed he'd find out soon enough!

His eyes scanned the room in search of an empty seat. It looked like most of the tables were full, but then he spied a seat at the table with Tom and Kimmie. Granted, he didn't know either of them that well, but they seemed nice in the few times he'd talked to them so… probably not likely to bite his head off if he joined. "Hey," he said, approaching the table. "Room for one more?" If not, he could always… go somewhere else.

Woooow. Finneas smiled as Heath made his way into the room. Looking from the boy to the yoyo and back to the boy, he wore a knowing grin. "Errr.. Just a plain one, I'm afraid."

Up and down. Up and down.

It was amazing! And she totally wanted to try it herself. Was that what the lesson was going to be on? YOYOING!? She was kind of hoping so. "Hi, Professor." She was walking into the classroom, finally, and backwards, of course, so she could watch him in all of his yoyoing GLORY. Was that a chair she plopped into, or a classmate's lap?

Okay. Definitely a chair. She didn't even bother to look to see who she was sitting with, but nudged the girl (VALENCIA!!1!) anyway. "Amazing, right?" The yoyoing. Not the stack of papers. Ravenclaws, pfft.

Finneas did notice she was standing in the doorway. It was a little unnerving and a lot of pressure. He was not good at being watched. Heh. Heh. Heh. And errr... The backwards walking concerned him because, er, what if she fell? He did not know first aid. "Hello, student." He knew her name was Flora. But he was trying to be funny. Did IT WORK?

While Blake waited for an answer he took a seat at a group of desks ... he honestly hadn't paid much attention to if anyone else was already sitting there, he was having fun watching the Professor figure out the yoyo.

Finneas always found himself wondering how Blake and Bernie G. were such good friends when they were so opposite one another. He also found himself wondering the same thing concerning himself and his girlfriend, Alina. But sometimes logic didn't explain everything. "Hello Mr. Ryan, thank you! Yes.... Are YOU a fellow yoyoer?!?!" The question was asked with MUCH enthusiasm.

SPOILER!!: Ceceliaaaa

"Don't worry Professor, you'll get better with practice," She supplied helpfully on the way by him, assuming the simple act of yo-yoing up and down was only because he couldn't do the real COOL yo-yo tricks that were possible. Maybe someday he'd figure it out, though! She had ALL the faith!

Looking around, Cecelia decided to join Phoebe, Kale, and the human Yoyo at their table since there was one seat left. "Hi," She greeted cheerfully, pulling up her chair.

Finneas gave Yoyo a thumbs up as she went to swap seats, only turning when Cecelia walked in. "Oh." That was..... not what he wanted to hear. He blinked a few times, absolutely stunned and questioning his yoyo skillz. Which meant it was a great time to check his watch. Er. Yes. It was time to start.

Look at all those chickens! ....... Childrens. Look at all those childrens.

Right......... It was time for class. He looked at Mr. Yoon to signal that it was time to take a seat and hand over the yo-yo, which he took from the Hufflepuff. Setting BOTH yo-yos onto the rectangular table behind him, the Muggle Studies man moved to close the door before walking back to the center of the room. "Hello..... Good afternoon class, I hope everyone got enough to eat at lunch." He bobbed his head up and down as he looked around the classroom taking mental note of attendance.

"Today we will be starting a new topic, hopefully you read the introductory chapter that was assigned for homework." He....... only expected maybe four people to have done so. It was his third year of teaching at Hogwarts. He was..... Er... becoming a realist. AnYwAy, anyway, ANYWAY. They were expected to read on the basics of muggle communication anyhow and hopefully some of this was common knowledge too. So. Er. "I'd like to begin with some basics.... When a witch or wizard would like to speak to someone who is not in the errr immediate vicinity, we use two-way mirrors, owls, the Floo Network, etcetera, etcetera, ETCETERA" He paused for a moment to collect his thoughts. Public speaking was hard.

"These are systems and measures unique to wizard-kind. So, er, with that in mind.. What are some of the different means that muggles use to communicate with one another? What do you know about them?" It was in the reading, people! He paused for a moment, scanning the room. "Let's er... Keep the limit to one answer each," everyone deserved a shot, y'know? Equality.

OOC: Hiiiiiiii class has officially BEGUN. Thanks for tuning in. Be sure to like and subscribe. Also, no late arrivals beyond this point unless you wanna face the IC consequences *FLICKERS THE LIGHTS*.

First question is up! I'll post again in about 20+ (probably more let's be real) to move the lesson forward.
