Kale was in his post-lunch slump. His belly was full. He was feeling lethargic-- like maybe he could only do one tap number for all of his adoring peers, if they insisted, instead of forty-two-- and he was upset. Cuz he really liked Gu--Professor Rainwater's class. He was the c-c-coolest.
And the post-lunch slump only got worse when he realised the coolest professor in school was glaringly absent from his desk. He peaked around, looking for him, and instead met eyes with a toad. Slimy.
Kale stared it down. It stared back. And suddenly Kale was stuck in some weird staring contest with a toad. Such is life.
