Avalon gave Kimmie a slight smile back. The Hufflepuff didn't seem up for talking, which was a bit odd, considering she was fairly friendly on the train. But then Avalon heard her give another curt reply to a different student, which partially relieved her. At least it wasn't just her. Maybe Kimmie just had a rough first night. Either way, it was fine, because Avalon wasn't one to chat much after class began anyway.

Considering the first question about water, Avalon's mind immediately went to drowning or dangerous creatures. But it seemed that her classmates already covered those bases.
