With the first official day of classes being just before the weekend, Malachi had decided to wait until Saturday (the day after) to come see the lions. He hadn't made an official announcement at the feast and there were no doubt many of them wondering who their new Head of House would be with Simran's departure.
And, of course, there were just a few house keeping matters to get out of the way so it was around midday that the Headmaster made his way into the Gryffindor Common Room. There was still a good 45 minutes before lunch. He didn't suspect he'd be needing all of it but left enough room just in case.
He'd sent word ahead for all the Gryffindors to be gathered and hoped that as informal as he'd made it sound, they wouldn't think it was merely a request.
Malachi walked over to the fireplace, his gaze trained on the flames while he waited for his lions to begin pouring in.
