Disney’s Call of the Wild is a retelling of Jack London’s classic tale about Buck, a pampered but loveable dog from California who finds himself (literally) in the Alaska Yukon. Screenwriter Michael Green does an admirable job of condensing down Buck’s various owners and experiences throughout his journey north. Omar Sy is a joy to watch as Perrault, a Canadian mail carrier who teaches Buck how to pull a sled. Harrison Ford plays Buck’s savior, John Thornton, as we watch the two become each other’s spiritual guides – Thornton leading Buck into the wild as Buck leads Thornton back to his family.

Disney’s Call of the Wild opens in theaters tomorrow.
