The first book that popped into my mind was also by Cassandra Clare, but it was the Infernal Devices trilogy for Jem and Will - probably because I just finished reading them.

One of my favourite book friendships of almost a decade now, is Ari and Janco from Maria V. Snyder's Chronicles of Ixia series (starts with Poison Study). They have a bond from their initial appearance, and it grows to encompass a few other characters - but no spoilers from me.

Third, I can never bypass friendships in books without thinking or mentioning Winnie the Pooh xD. I'm an adult I promise. There is just something so amazing about Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Rabbit, Owl etc and their adventures. Never pushing each other to be more or less than they are - just accepting and adventure-ing.
