Watching the bird die, withstanding its scream, it was... taxing. But Kaiser sat through the whole thing. He tried to not even blink, but found that impossible. Eventually, though, it was over.

He didn't say anything. Which didn't actually matter, because there was no need to speak right away. He could sit there, appearing stoic but now feeling very much like he was apart from his body, watching himself like he was a separate entity, rather than being part of the moment. It was fine.

He was, at least, present enough to know what they would be doing next - pampering aged phoenixes - and that they needed to group up. And that's what he did. Or, at least, that's what happened to him, as it often seemed to do.

Kaiser blinked and looked around, just then registering that Chloe was sat closer to him than she had been before. He did not appear too surprised by the fact. The death of the Jobberknoll had been, he supposed, an upsetting thing to witness - one kid was throwing up, if the retching sounds were anything to go by - and some people did tend to seek out solace in other humans when they were emotionally compromised. "Yes, I don't mind," he said, to the offer of joining forces. He was speaking for himself, of course, though imagined that Kodee might join just for the convenience of a group close at hand.

Claudine had appeared, along with another girl Kaiser knew as a first year from his own house, but could not place the name of right now. He nodded to the both of them in greeting - he couldn't quite bring himself to launch into conversation just yet - and waited quietly for the next set of instructions. Kaiser's ears, he noticed, were still ringing in the aftermath of the bird's scream. An unpleasant sensation, but it could have been much worse.
