Nina Castillo did not need to be warned twice. The moment their Professor asked them to cover their ears was the exact moment that her hands flew up. And what happened next was quite possibly the worst thing she had never witnessed in her life. Not because it was sad (it was a bird!), but because it was so unnecessary!! Why would their Professor make them watch a bird as it died? What could they possibly learn from this aside from the fact that it screeched at such a high volume that she wanted to die too.

Nina was not impressed, nor did she understand what the big deal was. Maybe in other circumstances she would have seen why it could have been heart-warming. But as it stood, she practiced very selective empathy.

This did not stop her, however, from making the most horrified face eVER. But to be clear, her eyes had not widened because she was sad. Her jaw did not drop because she felt sorrow. She was horrified that their Professor made them witness such a thing! And no, she would NOT be attending a funeral for A BIRD. So whatever that one Gryffindor said, could they like... not do that?
