Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ ❄ Showtunes > Everything ❄ ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll Heath had never felt such a strange combination of nervousness and excitement as he stood in line waiting to be sorted. So this was Hogwarts... So far, it was exactly like the stories his family had told him. He'd waited to come here for so long, he couldn't believe it was finally happening! But then again, what if he found out out Hogwarts wasn't all he hoped? What if he didn't belong here?
As he looked around the hall, he saw his older sister smiling and waving at him from the Gryffindor table, and he was suddenly keenly aware of the hundreds of other pairs of eyes turned to him. His cheeks flushed bright red, and he nervously tried to flatten his hair to hide it. He looked up to avoid accidentally locking eyes with anyone and soon became enamored by the ceiling. Whoa... he'd heard about Hogwart's bewitched ceiling, but seeing it for himself was something else! As he gazed at the skyscape, his mind began to wander, and he imagined himself speeding through the sky in the Millineum Falcon. How awesome would that be?! "JONES, HEATHCLIFF!"
With his mind in a galaxy far far away, Heath almost missed hearing his name called. Suddenly jerked back to reality, he made his way to the stool at the front of the room. With every step closer to the hat, his anxiety rose. What if he - Merlin forbid! - wasn't in Gryffindor like the rest of his family? What if the Hat didn't put him in a house at all and he just sat there forever while everybody laughed at him?
Heath took a deep breath to calm his nerves as he put the hat on. No sooner had the hat touched his head that he heard its voice in his ear, "Ah, another Jones! It seems only yesterday that I sorted your mother and siblings..." For a split second, Heath thought the hat was going to get it over with and put him in Gryffindor, but then it said, "but you... there's something different about you." Gee, thanks for reminding me, Heath thought. As if he didn't already feel like an outsider... "Different isn't necessarily a bad thing," the hat assured him. "Now let's see... such a shy, awkward boy, but there's so much more to you than that. I see you're intelligent , curious, imaginative, and you have a passion for the arts. There's ambition but not ruthlessness, talent, and if I may say so, a flair for the dramatic..." Come on, Gryffindor! Get on with it! "Interesting choice," the hat said. "True, you do have more courage than you know, but i feel you're a better fit for... RAVENCLAW!"
Heath blinked dumbly. Wait, what? No, he was supposed to be in Gryffindor like mum, Fiy, Ariel, and practically everybody else in his family! But there was nothing he could do about that now; the hat had spoken. All he could do was trudge away to the Ravenclaw table.
