He'd already run through a solid brick wall today, and he was far more interested in learning how to do that magic than some test on transfigureskating or whatever she'd just said. Hang on... first he was agreeing and now he was... waaaaait, was that a joke about her reading abilities? Bernie's eyes narrowed. She huffed and loudly turned a page in the book, taking a deep breath before she read. "Transfiguration is subject to rules, such as Gamp’s Law of Elemental Transfiguration, which has five Principal Exceptions, of which food is one." But would HE know what that meant? Bernie had kinda gotten the gist of this last year in Barlow's class. Anyway, she continued reading.
"BUBBA GAMP'S LAW means that ONLY food can be produced out of thin air. Food can be moved from one place to another by magic, or changed, OR created out of nothing. Essentially, by following Gamp's Law, wizards can never starve, and can easily transfigure ordinary, boring food into something more appetizing." She stole a peek at the boy to see if he was listening. "For example, to transfigure a ham sandwich into a sandwich cookie or biscuit, one would only need to use the incantation Pastillum fartum whilst tapping the sandwich in question."
Hmm, interesting. Was the kid believing it? All this reading was making her hungry, so Bernie pulled a chocolate frog box out of her pocket.
