It wasn't said in a mean manner but jokingly. But him saying that no one was a hundred percent their House and that everyone had traits from every House made him think for a moment. "I never thought about that" he said, frowning ever so slightly. "But now that i think about it, i can see myself in Gryffindor as well. Maybe im a.. get this....ready? A Huffledor!" he laughed at his own extremely lame joke. "Is that why the Sorting Hat sometimes takes a couple of minutes to sort someone? I've seen it before" he had been sorted in to Hufflepuff the moment the Hat had been placed on top of his head.

"Exactly, school stuff. For making Potions at the laboratory when i don't have any classes" he wasn't lying here. He did use the Potions laboratory to make certain prank potions. He was just not mentioning the prank bit. "Presents? why did you have to buy presents for your family?" he asked. "Are they giving a birthday party or something?" And if so , could he come too?

The fact that he hadn’t inadvertently smashed the glass was a relief to Ewan, a small smile on his lips now. Judging from Minjae’s expression, he could have guessed that they were expensive but it didn’t really matter to him. After all, he wasn’t exactly someone who was impressed by more or material things. There were more important things in life, something he knew all too well after the last few years. “No problem” he replied, waving his thanks away. Anyone would have picked them up and given them back.

Well it wasn’t often that he saw a Hufflepuff that wasn’t very nice but then again, like he said, everyone has traits from the different houses. Maybe some of his were just a little more unpleasant from the other houses. “Uhh, I’m not sure” his face a little more neutral now as he replied. He could have gone into the whole reason he sometimes forgets things and the reason for his poor memory but there was no real need to just to prove a point. “Yeah, I mean, I think the hats put you where you belong but it doesn’t mean it’s not a close call. Maybe you could be a ‘Huffledor’”, his lips twitching a little the name he made up for the Hybrid house. “Or Gryffinpuff? Whichever you prefer”.

“Mhm…potions stuff” Maybe he’d have to mention Minjae’s name to some of the Hufflepuff prefects and ask them to keep an eye on him. “I take it you’re pretty good at potions?” curious to see if he could find out a little more. “I just want to surprise some of my family with presents. No particular reason really. Sometimes, it’s nice just to surprise people” never really having much money, it was nice for him to actually have some now so that he could go out and treat his family and girlfriend sometimes. “And I need to buy myself a present for becoming a prefect” he added at the end, slightly proud of his own surprising achievement.
