"None taken," Jake replied with a good-natured grin. "I happen to agree." Whether or not he was including himself in that wasn't totally clear, but he probably was. He absolutely was.

Some might have gone for a regular chair in front of the desk, but Alexa had said to sit anywhere, and so anywhere was where he would sit. The couch, specifically. It looked very comfortable and-... it was very comfortable. He rested his forearms atop his legs and clasped his own hands, mirroring Lex's gesture without quite realising.
"I have a request," he began. "To move positions. Not a promotion, more of a... lateral move. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to take on a position as an Auror. I did all the training... oh, about twenty years ago now." Merlin. Twenty years. Was he really old enough for that to be true? That couldn't be... Actually, wait, there was also the twenty-three-year-old son situation to factor in, so maybe it was about right. But still.
