It wasn't his first choice for classroom but with the French Defense Professor currently running his own lesson, there was nothing to do but pick another. Mind you, this wasn't a BAD classroom, just...the other would have been perfect.

This one, he did what he could with without changing too much. Too much of course being a subjective measure. For now, perfectly normal classroom and it would remain that way while the door remained open.

Grey eyes glanced up from his book toward the door. Even before he could see the students, he could hear the footsteps coming down the corridor. Right on time. Naturally, there was one in particular he was looking out for.

He made his way through the fancy castle to the classroom, his bag slumped sideways on his shoulder, his hair was normally blonde today but his eyes kept changing from blue to silver. He gave up hope on having them stable. Girls seem to like that he can change their colours anyway.

"Morning!" Ilya beamed at the headmaster without stopping but conveniently walking closely to his desk (trying to see what the man was reading perhaps), and onwards towards one of the set desks with the interesting boxes. What were they? Ilya placed his bag on the floor by his chair and leaned forward on his elbows to take a closer look at the box. WithOUT touching. yeh, yeh.

Ah and there was the first of them. Malachi lowered his book, watching the boy make a beeline for the desk and the covered box atop it. The Headmaster had hoped he wouldn't have to say anything and was pleasantly surprised to see the young boy knew how to look with his eyes rather than his hands.

You'd never believe how long it took some kids to learn that lesson.

"Good morning.......Ravenclaw." Names on the first day of school were unlikely among the first years. The others, he'd already had history with, but the little ones...well....they just got there. It would take him atleast a month. Give or take how obnoxious they turned out to be.

And another of the little people. One who, perhaps predictably, also made a beeline for the desk and the box. It seemed quite natural to him for her to take a seat next to...Ravenclaw over there (them both being first years and new and all). The man gave her a nod in return greeting. "Morning." Casually removing the need to say her name.

As of the start of this class, he didn't know it.

This was quickly becoming a trend. Was he surprised it was the bright eyed and bushy tailed ones who were the earliest for class? Hardly. First day of school, the first years tended to be....for lack of a better word....eager. Endearing for a certainty, but also dangerous if not properly contained. This one, thankfully, seemed well contained.

"Good morning!" she chirped, plopping a big fat juicy red apple on top of his stack of books. Surely wizards had this tradition too, no? She'd nicked the apple from the LOVELY, HEALTHY breakfast they were still being served and thought the Headmaster might need it for their first day. Apples had caffeine, after all, and most adults appreciated a caffeine boost when working with Bernadette.

Bernie continued smiling and skipping as she made her way to the desk BEHIND Ilya, who received a bright, "HELLO," whispered loudly at him. Now she had a box all to herself.... What's in the box? She was VERY tempted to open this present.

Speaking of bright eyed, bushy tailed and eager...

Malachi blinked at this one as she literally skipped into the classroom dripping sunshine and rainbows all over the floor and anything she touched. The Headmaster raised a brow at her as she approached, openly concerned about the apple in her hand when the rules clearly stated no food in the classroom. Were apples on the list? Didn't matter, he'd said the list was non-exhaustive.

Trent lowered his book further when she plopped it atop his books. Right...... Very casually, Malachi moved the apple from atop his books to its own spot atop his desk. "Thank you....Gryffindor." Don't worry, he'd get the names soon enough. More importantly. "How did you manage to get hold of any sugar with the breakfast we had?" Serious question. She was on something. He wouldn't believe otherwise.

Even her auntie Lou at the Leaky Cauldron didn't really use magic much. But she, and her grandparents, had all refused to allow her to stay at home and be muggle schooled. So, here she was. In France. About to learn Defence Against the Dark Arts.

She took in the sights of the classroom, heading in. "Hello Prof-uh... H-Headmaster Trent." She wasn't entirely sure what she should call him. He was the Headmaster of Hogwarts, but he was also the Professor of DADA. "What do you like being called?" she asked in a rather quiet voice.

The first precious bean of the morning. Every year, there was a good enough chance of running into at least one of them. Last term it was Keller. This term was...this one here with a name that he would obviously learn at some point.

Yes.

There was the faintest remnants of a smile tugging at his lips. The question wasn't at all strange. At least one kid asked each year. He'd have been more concerned if the question never came up at all. "Inside the classroom, either is fine. Outside, "Headmaster" will do." Kept things simple. Inside here, he'd be the only Professor. Outside, it was likely there would be more at any given time making the distinction more necessary.

Everyone was given a light nod and smile in greeting. "Good morning, Headmaster Trent." Her voice was loud enough to be heard but not enough so to be distracting as he had seen he was writing something down when she entered the room.

Selecting a seat at a group of tables near the center of the room she removed the materials needed for the lesson, laying each one down nicely on the desk. Placing her bag beneath her chair she than sat down, her eyes falling upon the light blue satin covered box.

"Morning, Prichard." Finally a name he knew. It'd been one first year after the other and as adorable as they tended to be, there were only so many times he'd be able to get away with referring to these kids by their houses. The first month was always the roughest where that was concerned. All the bright, new faces he knew nothing about.

For a moment, the Headmaster watched her set out her materials for the lesson. Very organized that one. Well behaved, too. Nothing like her brother and thank Merlin for that. One had been enough and now he was someone else's headache, wherever he was. This Prichard, he was glad to keep.

Not a bouncer, this one. It was fine, always a mixed bag. "Morning."

Malachi watched her pulled out her sketch book....as opposed to the materials required for the lesson. "It would be more prudent of you to take out your defense materials." Wand, textbooks, parchment, inkwell, y'know, the things she would actually need. "We'll be beginning in a moment. There's time enough for whatever that is later. For now, put it away." Naya entered the classroom and noted that there were a lot of little people and one older girl there. Okaaay. “Good Morning Headmaster”, she said as she searched for just the right seat. Apparently they would be sitting in groups of four. Naya chose a desk next to three unoccupied desks. Surely the seats would be filled soon. Seeing the items on the desk made her wonder even more what they would be up to. Time would tell.

"Morning." Malachi replied. An older new student. There were a few of those each term. The ones who inevitably fell into the same category as the first years when it came to names. First day of school problems. Although, could it really be described as a problem? If you showed up to the first day of lessons with your professor already knowing you name despite it being your very first time, you were likely doing something very right or very wrong. Only the latter was a problem.

But feeling nervous was something he was used to. Especially during DADA lessons. The only difference was that after six years he was getting good at hiding it. The classroom looked ...perfect... as he entered the room. Everything at Beauxbaton looked perfect really. And he liked it. "Good morning, Headmaster Trent" he greeted and curiously looked down at the book he was reading and taking notes in. When he couldn't see what was written, he turned away to find a seat when he spotted Rylee.

"Hey Rosie, did you get permission to bring your kneazle yet?" he asked as he sat down at an empty desk in the group.
The Head Boy himself.

Malachi watched with mild concern as Katharos entered the classroom. He'd gotten lost. It was an easy deduction to make. There was no need to ask if he was alright. Experience had taught him that the boy typically was. Usually, Katharos looked like that when he was at risk of being late and had done something to remedy the situation. Before the morning was up, the man imagined quite a few of them would be lost on the way here.

"Morning, Katharos. Nifty badge you've got there." He trusted he understood the great responsibility that came with it.

Not that she minded per se. This was all very exciting. She wondered how long they'd be staying here. Would they be allowed to return to Hogwarts after the school year? Or maybe Christmas? Or they all stay here? Forever???

All those questions roaming around in her head, it was no wonder really that she'd missed the entrance to the DADA classroom the first time. After turning around at the end of the corridor, however, she quickly noticed the students filing into the room and joined them.

"Good morning, Headmaster!" She said cheerfully. Yes, good morning. Siobhán O'Shea was now also here. She'd arrived.

After a quick look around, Shivvy, to her disappointment, noticed that none of her friends had arrived yet. Were they lost too? Or maybe they'd just STAYED in that music room. Maybe she should have, too? But no, DADA was fun. Usually. Plus, it was important. Her dad had told her so. Repeatedly. Probably more often than she'd paid attention enough to remember.

So, seeing as she was, so far, friendless in this classroom, Siobhán simply dropped into the nearest available seat. By a girl who was also wearing Gryffindor robes. "Hii, who are you?" She asked with a grin, her gaze already drifting away to the items on the table. Why were they hidden from view? Were they dangerous?

What if she poked the cloth with her wand?

Poking the cloth with her wand would likely result in the Headmaster poking her with the one at his side. But she hadn't and there was no need and this wasn't at all a thing.

"Morning, O'Shea. Let's stay out of back alleys this term, yeah?" Because no, he hadn't forgotten the nearly unfortunate mishap in the back alley of Hogsmeade just the term before. A whole village with sweets and games and those kids decided a dark alleyway was the place to be. Merlin's beard, it made no sense.

Of course, there weren't necessarily any dark alleys this year but the warning still stood. As a Gryffindor, he was confident she'd find one somehow.

The Headmaster glanced over at the clock, just trying to keep track of the time. Yes, he knew the lesson would be starting soon, but it helped to know the exact time because yes, new castle or not, that door was closing on the hour. New castle and people were lost, you say? That was the story of every first year at the start of every year. They managed just fine.

His attention was pulled from the clock at the entrance of yet another student. "Hello there." Nice and early, just the way he liked it.

He didn't miss the double take this one had done. Yet another thing the man expected at the start of the term. Not many were used to the idea of their Headmaster hosting lessons but he found most got used to it rather quickly after the initial "whoa".

In the end, it wasn't difficult to find, but he'd still needed to wander around for a bit to work out the vague direction he had needed to go to find it. It didn't help that he was still operating on no sleep at all (as was probably clear from the dark circles under his eyes), Herbology not really being the best place to have a quick nap even if he had been able to, so Kaiser wasn't really functioning on all cylinders.

But here he was. Kaiser wondered if it was possible that Headmaster Trent knew yet about his OWL grade in this subject. He had the mist situation to deal with, after all, as well as the move to Beauxbatons, and there was the fact that Kaiser hadn't taken his exams until late in the summer and so had only received his results two days prior. Also, maybe Trent wouldn't care about his grades; Kaiser wouldn't have held it against him at all.

But an E. Exceeds Expectations. Kaiser had been absolutely floored to see he had managed the second highest possible grade in not just Defence Against the Dark Arts, but Potions as well, seeing as the most he ever usually managed were Acceptables. Yes, he had failed five of his other exams, but that wasn't the point. He would never admit it, but part of Kaiser really yearned for some sort of approval, starved of it as he was in the absence of any, you know, parents, and in this situation he kind of wanted it to come from Trent himself. But Kaiser wasn't allowing himself to expect it; Trent was a busy man, hundreds of students, a school to run, disaster at every turn, etcetera, etcetera.

Kaiser also didn't want to be obvious about the whole thing either, didn't want anyone to even suspect that he craved that acknowledgement, especially as it really was extremely un-Kaiser-like. So, when he entered the classroom, he simply greeted Trent with a (very tired sounding), "Morning," and looked for somewhere to sit.

Hmm. Groups. Well, the large majority of students present were a lot younger than he was, though Rylee and Dorian were there already. They were probably hoping for friends to sit with them though, and Kaiser wouldn't deny that he'd have liked to sit with people he was slightly more familiar with too. Nodding at the two in greeting nevertheless, Kaiser went ahead and claimed one of the rapidly declining number of free tables while he still could. Not having any desire to go poking around mysterious objects, especially in this lesson, Kaiser let the box and the sheet well enough alone.

Coming in right behind the latest firstie, young Kaiser. It was the oddest thing. When the results were turned over from the Ministry, his hadn't been on the list. Seeing that had concerned the man more than anything. Had the boy not taken the exams? They were a fair bit important to his future depending on what he ultimately decided to do with his life.

"Morning, Kaiser. Mind stopping by my office later?" Despite it being a question, it didn't entirely sound like one. Rather, it was a set of instructions that simply had a question mark at the end by pure coincidence. He would need to get to the bottom of things. Worst case, they'd have to see about rescheduling or something of the sort.

It would be fine, everything would be fine, all his kids would be fine.

"Good morning Headmaster Trent!" Cole chirped cheerily as he passed the adult man on his way to a desk. Where to sit was always hard to pick. He saw that Sihoban and Naya we’re seated together in one group and Claudine and Dorian he also spotted as well as some others.

Cole opted eventually to sit down at an empty desk in a so far unoccupied group of four near the front. He wanted to put up a sign that said 'Boys come join me' but thought the headmaster might object strongly to that. Instead he took out his DADA book and flipped it open and started to read about a dark creature to pass the time until class started. He wondered about the content of the boxes and the sheets purposes obviously, who wouldn't, but he kept his fingers to himself.

Oh look, it was barf boy. Er....Vance. Vance....yeah...that's who that one was. After the feast, Trent had gone to check in with Carmine on the boy who'd been sick during the feast. Rotten luck that was, starting the year being known as the boy who threw up on everyone at the table before the food even arrived. Idly, the man wondered how long it would take him to live that one down.

"Morning, Vance. Feeling better today, I hope." The boy certainly sounded better. Hell, he almost sounded like he was on the same thing that one first year was. Pretty sure there.

She made an unspoken promise to not follow anyone after the lesson so they would not be upset with her.

The badger smiled immediately however when she made her way into the classroom for her FIRST lesson in Defense Against the Dark Arts! Her eyes settled on the Headmaster as he waited for everyone's arrival, with a note not to touch the items on their desk. Faye's smile never faltering as she bowed her head politely towards the Headmaster before she spoke, "Good morning Headmaster.." She had no idea he would be teaching these classes!

She took a quick scan around the room looking as the desks were grouped together in fours. Seeing some of them quickly filling up, she made a beeline for the first available sit she could find which happened to be with a really pretty older Slyhtherin girl (Jillian). "Hi there, I'm Faye...Would it alright if I sit with you?" Soon setting her things down on the desk across from her before getting comfortable.

Faye's eyes settled on the box in front of her, quizzically staring at it, NOT touching it at all as instructed. Of course curious to know what was inside, but feeling no temptation to touch it because surely they'd be touching it eventually. It was all about patience until the lesson began.

A bow? Well that was a new one. Another precious little bean, as it were. Two in the space of one lesson. What a delight.

"Morning to you, too." And a small bow of his head in return just because. Was it the whole Beauxbatons thing? Had all the fanciness seeped in? If they got to go home in the next term or so, would she still bow in greeting? These were the obviously important questions running through the Headmaster's mind in the moment.

Morning Headmaster," Gemma smiled at Headmaster Trent as she quickly scooped out a place to sit. Not liking drawing attention to herself, sitting near the back was her best option.

Gemma spotted Faye sitting at a table with another Slytherin student. As she passed she gave the Hufflepuff a smile and mouthed hello. She made her way towards a girl sketching near the back.

"Mind if I join you? Without really waiting for a reply she sat down, pulling out her book and something to write with. "I'm Gemma Black, by the way." She politely introduced herself to her fellow housemate. She didn't really want to bother her so she flipped to a random page in the book and idly read.

"Good morning." Why some of the shortest students in the room opted to sit in the back was beyond him. Were he having a theory lesson that involved a lot of note taking, he may have suggested they move up to at least the middle (she and her housemate), but the nature of the lesson made it less of a necessity.

"Morning Starson." Trent happened to already be looking in the direction of the door when this one entered. "I'm doing pretty well, all things considered. Hope you didn't have too much trouble finding this room."

"Too much" because the man was fairly sure that 8 in every 10 students would be lost before finding this room. For many of them, being in a new castle was something they hadn't done in years. Wrong.

Lucas wasn't sure where he'd taken a wrong turn - and was sure he was just following the general crowd - but he, somehow, ended up closer to the Music Hall? How????? There were a few seconds where he stood and stared at the hall in confusion before deciding that even Trent's weirdest classes wouldn't take place HERE.

And he would know, the man had held lessons in padded rooms with creepy creatures that stalked your nightmares.

It wasn't until he decided to turn and walk further along the corridor that he noticed people - people in Hogwarts robes, that is - walking into a different classroom and decided to follow them. It wasn't until he saw Trent himself at the front of the room that he let out a sigh of relief. "Hey, Headmaster!" Smile. He almost wanted to ask about the book but this didn't seem like a good time.

Instead, he turned and made his way towards an empty, uh, table. Not just a seat, a table with four seats. Uh????? Did this mean group work? Please, no. No no no. Oh no. He could be his own group, right? A group of four but of one? It meant extra work on his part but to him, that didn't sound like a bad idea at all.

Taking a seat towards the middle of his empty table, he frowned at the box in front of him and then looked up. Don't touch? ........ Well. The urge was there. It was all mysterious and he was itching to take a look at what was underneath the cloth and inside the box but....... Trent. Again, lessons with the man taught him that he probably should do what he said.

So, he crossed his arms across his chest. Not touching. Not even looking.

This one he had no worries about when it came to following the rules. Oh no, for a certainty, the man was sure Dakest would have seen "don't touch the box" and opted to then not touch the box. Of this he was sure.

"Morning, Dakest." There was an obvious look of relief on the boy's face that brought the faintest of amused smirks to the man's lips. Another one that had likely gotten lost then. Yeah, yeah he wasn't surprised. Not because it was Dakest, but because this was very much anticipated.

But was it him or did he look apprehensive? This was possibly the least intimidating classroom set up the man had had in a while. Nothing dangerous here. La la la.

He'd have to try to learn their names. It was only right. Maybe learn the name of that energizer bunny, too for different reasons but y'know.

"I appreciate you being on your best behaviour. D'you think you could teach your schoolmates a thing or two about how it's done?"

First years were--well a liability in truth--but also such a gift. How lovely.

He wistfully thought of Durmstrang.

With a respectful nod at Trent, Alessandro said, "Good morning, Headmaster." The sixth year did not linger. The headmaster looked preoccupied with his reading.

The Hufflepuff looked around the room, considering where to sit, when he spotted Kaiser. He didn't exactly look welcoming, which is precisely why Alessandro took a silent seat beside him. And he didn't bother saying 'hello'. Kaiser could see he had joined him. Silence was perfectly fine.

"Morning, Toussaint." One of the more responsible of his students. Not one precious bean #3 would have to teach about manners and behaviour and that was how he preferred them to be. Not much of a talker, true, but attentive at the very least. Polite, too. Sometimes it was all you could ask for.

Of course, his son (precious bean #4) wouldn't have been needing those lessons in manners either, but there was something about the Hufflepuff. All that discipline that most of his peers and a small portion of the friends he hung out with lacked.

Be still his heart. "Another one." Just how many precious beans did this batch of first years have??? This one curtsied for Circe sake. A full on curtsy. It was probably his son's doing, all this extra emotion and fondness he was feeling this term but honestly, they were all working hard this year to melt him into a puddle and it needed to stop. He would not be swayed. Soon they'd be taller and snogging in broom closets. Nope nope nope.

"I like that you like my "aura of mystery"." He replied, a grin in place. "Can't say I've ever been told that before." No...when the students usually walked in, it was more of a "gawd we're gonna die. Today's finally the day he decides to end us all"--unnecessarily mind you. He'd never let them actually die, regardless of the danger level of the lesson.

One male student had even told her that he wouldn’t help her in heavily accented English before smirking and walking off in the other direction. She really wanted to know that brunet’s name so that she could jinx his shoes. Mean.

Huffing slightly from the emotions she was trying to suppress, she looked around the room that was rapidly filling up and made a slight face whoops when she noted that a lot of the tables were filling up; most of them down to a few seats free. Guess she should have been here earlier if she had warned to pick her table and her workmates.

Giving Lucas and Kaiser a small head nod, she decided to emulate that helpful older student vibe and sit next to one of the newly sorted Slytherin girls. Maybe she could repay one of the many favours the current Seventh Years and already Graduated students had shown her by helping this girl in class if she needed it. Standing at one of the chairs, she gave the girl [FearlessLeader19] who was sketching a smile.

“Hey.” Holly started, before pulling out her chair and taking a seat as she got organised for the class. “I’m Holly.” There, she was being nice already. Hopefully, they would get started soon and she could find out what was under that satin because she was curious. Very curious about what he was hiding from them.

Malachi watched Tamesis walk in, head for the back and pick up a conversation with one of the two first years seated there without so much as a "good morning". The man raised a brow at the spectacle, knowing she knew better and honestly a little surprised by the action or lack thereof.

For now, he said nothing. He would--for this first day--chalk it up to her still being in summer mode and adjusting to a new environment. The man hoped this wouldn't become a habit.

Looking about, he quickly observed that the other students appeared to be just as excited as he was, which he took a a really good sign.

He found a seat towards the middle, not too far up front nor too far back. Placement was everything or so he had managed to convince himself, in any case.

And another to walk in without offering up any sort of greeting to the Headmaster. Was this quickly becoming a trend?

This one also got a raise of the man's brow in his direction before Malachi decided to simply go back to his book. He was almost done and it was almost time for the lesson to begin but he would be keeping an eye on this one, in case it was an indication of further behavioural problems.

He had been nearly fluent before, but was probably letting it slip while at Hogwarts to be honest. With Noah's help, and all the practice at home over the summer he was feeling great about it. There was just the aforementioned problem of feeling a bit jumbled sometimes.

But this was Defense Against the Dark Arts. So he could think just English for the duration of the class. He found the place just fine, mostly because he'd sort of just followed the crowd. Once inside he said a chipper "Hello Headmaster," and looked around for where to sit. First he saw a group of first years (why did it seem like there were just so MANY of them??) and then a group of older kids. Finally, somewhere in the middle, his gaze landed on Lucas. Oh hi Lucas! He started heading that way.

"Hi Lucas! Can I sit with you?" He was already starting to sit in a chair even as he said it. But it was polite to ASK, right? There was also a smaller girl getting there right before him. Alexandre smiled at her. "Hi! I'm Alexandre!" And there was a THING on the table. A thing that they weren't supposed to touch. A thing that he really wanted to touch. But he wouldn't. Because he was good at following directions. But he wanted to.

Having gone back to his book, the Headmaster was slightly startled by the sudden and quite chipper greeting of the Ravenclaw. Grey eyes rose immediately, looking for the source of the latest greeting.

"Morning, Pascal. You're in a good mood." If that greeting was anything to go off of.

Good to know some were keeping in good spirits despite all the changes.

Thankfully, she had left plenty of time in case she got lost on her way to Defense Against the Dark Arts. But she was not about to ask one of the Beauxbatons students how to get to A1. The handful of them that she had seen so far had only sneered in her direction, obviously irritated that Hogwarts students were infiltrating their school. In a way, she couldn't blame them. She would feel a little miffed if the entire Durmstrang congregation were to make themselves right at home at Hogwarts. But they could at least pretend to be polite.

Finally finding the classroom she was looking for, Avalon entered, giving Headmaster Trent a courteous nod and smile. "Good morning, Headmaster," she said, glancing down at her wristwatch. Good, it was still morning after all. It felt much later, though, as Avalon had been up since before dawn. She usually preferred to sleep in, but the change in environment was messing with her sleeping schedule. Avalon glanced around the room, silently appreciating the tidiness of it. She chose an empty seat next to a boy that she hadn't met before (Alex), and gave him a friendly smile. "Hi! Mind if I sit here?" Well, even if he did mind, it was too late. She had already slung her bag over the chair and put her textbook down. And what could possibly be in that box on the table? Headmaster Trent always had interesting lessons. Avalon wondered what they might be learning about today.

"Morning, Sinclair." To say he was pleased so many of them managed to be early for the lesson despite all the change ups and the new environment would have been a slight understatement. Yes, this was something they all went through regardless during their first year at Hogwarts but this was an ENTIRELY new environment with a different language and a whole other school of children hanging about.

Luckily it was still early, so she was hoping that meant it was more understandable if they got a bit lost right now. Not that it didn’t help that a lot of the Beauxbatons students didn’t seem very willing to help them. Or prove that they understood more than just French. She’d been tempted a few times to just say something in Welsh just to prove a point to them.

Finding the classroom for the DADA lesson wasn’t as hard as it might have been, though, considering she’d mostly had to just follow the others from the Herbology lesson that had finished before this lesson. It had given her time to quickly make sure she wasn’t too disheveled from Herbology, too, while she’d walked. And to verify she had the appropriate textbook in her bag, which was more of a cursory check than anything as she’d known she’d put it in there before she’d headed for breakfast.

The classroom itself didn’t look anything like the usual DADA classroom, either, although the smile she had given the headmaster was the same one she usually gave. “Good morning, Headmaster Trent,” she added, glancing around at the already occupied tables. Her sister wasn’t there yet, it seemed, nor a lot of her housemates, and she didn’t particularly want to claim a table all for herself so ultimately she’d headed over toward the grouping currently occupied by her cousin.

“Do you mind if I join you, Cole?,” she asked, more out of general politeness than actually feeling she needed permission before sitting down in one of the empty seats. She guessed it hadn’t exactly mattered, anyway. Seats would probably be filled soon enough.

"Good morning, Rose." He greeted the Hufflepuff as she entered. By now, it was beginning to make sense for the latter set of students to find their way. When you thought about it, all they had to do was follow the ones who came before them.

Hopefully, it would be smooth sailings for those yet to arrive. The lesson would be beginning soon.

Luckily, she'd eventually found the right classroom by following a Hogwartian, one of those that hadn't gone as far as the music room.

"Hello, Headmaster Trent," Dalia greeted as she entered the classroom and took a seat at random, not even noticing the grouping of the desks.

Again, the Headmaster looked up at the clock. Was that really the time?

Huh.

Malachi lowered his book onto his desk by the apple he'd received just as the Hufflepuff walked in. "Morning. Not, too many troubles getting here, I hope." The man was somewhat concerned about how well his students would adjust. It was important to him that they did.

Wrong.

Beauxbatons had everything in order except the classrooms. For some weird reason, it was on the second floor and not the first. At first, she had somehow landed in front of the music hall. Then, the portrait gallery. And finally, the actual classroom. She simply greeted the Headmaster as she walked in. "Good morning, sir." She walked over to the table housing Avalon and a boy she didn't know. "Hi Avalon.", she plainly said as she sat down next to her. Out of her politeness, she greeted the boy with a 'hello'.

"Morning Al--Anderson." His records had indicated the name change. It would just take him a bit of time to acclimatize to it after spending the previous term referring to her by her previous name.

The good thing was, he at least already knew who she was. The adjustment wouldn't have been too difficult.

At the stroke of twelve, Malachi drew his wand and the door slammed shut as it always did before he began his lessons. The returning students, at the very least, would not be surprised by the gesture. It was what happened. It was what being late got you.

"Good morning and welcome! For those of you who don't know, my name is Malachi Trent, your Headmaster--though I confess I do hope you know I'm the Headmaster even if you know nothing else." If not...that was concerning in itself. "As you can very clearly see, the door is locked. Be on time for class, or risk being on the wrong side of the door and having an unnecessary meeting with me after for skipping." Unnecessary because all they had to do to avoid it was be on time. It helped to start heading for the class before the expected time, just in case. There were any number of things that could always go wrong. Constant vigilance was a real thing.

"We'll be starting the term off with some light fun. Nothing dangerous, but practical all the same." Here's to looking at you kids who liked to freak out the moment the classroom looked a little darker than usual or a few creatures with slightly terrifying teeth and claws and massive sizes just happened to be present and chained to the walls.

Sheesh.

"For now, pay no attention to the covered boxes. We'll get to that in a bit. Let's start off with an easy question. One that won't require you to crack open your textbook but will require you to put some extra effort into thinking." Thinking and teenagers didn't always go hand in hand but he was willing to believe in them for the purpose of getting things started.

"What are some intuitive and effective ways to evade someone or something that's chasing you? What methods would you employ?" How would they handle it? And no, Dakest, running and or screaming was not the answer.

OOC: Hello everyone! Thanks for your patience while I got this post up. The lesson has officially begun. Please note the classroom door is physically closed. If your character is late, they would have to get it open and there tend to be consequences for the late ones. If you're just joining in, feel free to pretend your character's been here all along! I'll be moving this class again in another 24 hours <3
