Cornish stood at the back of the room, having herded a few pokey firsties along and not wanting to make a production of taking his place at the front of the room. He was uncomfortable and unhappy about what was going on, and it was unlikely that anyone would be comforted by the expression on his face. He crossed his arms and scowled at the back of everyone's heads as the Headmaster spoke.
Why weren't they evacuating? There was a Floo in the Headmaster's office, at the very least. If the question was 'what should they do in the face of danger', especially danger that didn't put up a fair fight? Run away!
