But whereas Clifford didn't take himself that seriously, Daisy rather did. Just like distracted people might take her various acts of kindness as weakness, they also took her occasionally silly actions to mean she was rather comic.
She wasn't. Daisy Carden-Dupree walked through the world with the confidence to do and be whatever she wanted. She just chose to be a star, the absolute best at everything she set out to do. Four years of living in Paris on a Quidditch-player salary meant she grew rather used to looking the part as well. Flags as capes were so 2018, or so the French said.
Still. The girl stopped and turned towards the unmistakable voice of her Dad, her lips stretching into a joyous grin. "Dad!" She jogged the rest of the way to him and, as soon as she was close enough, wrapped both her arms around his neck. "You look brilliant." She tugged on one of the ends of the flag!cape, not really worried about his fashion critique. He had once worn socks with his sandals. "What are you talking about? No security team in the world would dress in suits this snazzy." She'd know, four years in Paris. With a bright chuckle, the younger Carden started to pose in her red suit, even adding a little spin. The sunglasses did get retired, though. "Besides, it's red! I'm totally supporting England." Only because she was English. She was pretty sure India was going to take this. "Where is Mum and the kids? Should we just take our seat?" He could barely hear what she was saying over the roars of the crowd but Clifford quickly returned the hug before returning to unpin the flag he was wearing. Daisy's outfit definitely needed some improvements and good thing he was here to help, right? Dad to the rescue. Don't get him wrong, he enjoyed a nice suit but now really wasn't the time. Suits ought to be saved for award ceremonies and charity balls. "Oh, I lost them somewhere near the merchandise stand," he responded to her question, "I didn't want to miss kick off..." So yes, he'd basically abandoned his family for the sake of Quidditch. Evangeline would understand. "Now hold still." He draped the flag around Daisy's shoulders and got to work tying it in a knot at her neck and was so distracted with the task he didn't even see the seekers making a dive for something shiny on the other side of the stands.
