With it not being the busy shopping season in Diagon Alley, Ryan gladly took advantage of the many opportunities he had to sneak in a nap here and there. Today was no different. In fact, business had been so quiet that day that he had retrieved to the private area in the back and fallen asleep, leaning back as much as he could in the sole office chair with his feet propped up on the desk.
Was he concerned that he would be robbed? No. If someone had the audacity to steal from a junk shop, then they were clearly desperate. And there was no way anyone was going to run off with anything in his cash register very easily. Was sleep more important than the potential of losing out on a few sickles? Yes.
Nevertheless, the door was cracked open, but the ringing of the shop bell had gone unheard. Deep in sleep, the man carried on with his dream as he occasionally snored.
Benji had been sleeping too, right beside his master. The crup, though, had a far better sense of hearing and his head immediately shot up the moment he heard movement coming from the main part of the shop.
Sniff, sniff, sniff. His nose registered the smell of unfamiliar humans. Tongue sticking out and tail wagging, the dog went to go investigate. First his big head pushed open the door just a bit more, then he snuck the rest of his body through.
He continued to sniff until he saw the two lady humans. Benji noticed that one of them was holding something in her hand. Thinking she wanted to lay fetch, he suddenly barked at her with excitement. PLAY! THROW! HE WAS READY! The fact his tail was wagging violently now, knocking over a few items, was proof enough of that.
