After greeting the Headmaster, Torii decided to keep her focus on the room around her. Room...bog...whatever it was. In the front of her mind, though, she kept thinking about what could be hidden in here. This was Defense Against the Dark Arts class, so the likelihood that nothing was lurking in here was slim to none.

She was so focused on her line of thinking that she actually jumped a little when the door slammed shut. Nobody had...noticed that, had they? Speaking of noticing things, just where was the door? Torii was so new to the school and so bitter about the move that she hadn't developed a trust for anybody just yet. She wanted to believe they were okay, though, but...wasn't this the school with all the Inferi? Ughh.

So anyway, back to the room. The really dark room. Torii edged closer to the lantern and felt for her wand. She'd light it, but nobody was, and sometimes light didn't do any good in the darkness. Sometimes it just showed the predator its prey. She looked around, considering the answer to the Headmaster's question. Some kid spoke up and said that everything could go wrong, and Torii agreed.

She raised her hand, unsure if the Headmaster could even tell in a setting like this. "So I was just thinking about how darkness can be both good and bad. I mean, on one hand, we can't see where we're going or what's out there," she said. "On the other hand, though, if we shine light from our wands, we're basically showing a predator its prey." Then there were other things to think about, like creatures who sensed fear and things like that.
