It was more curiosity that compelled him to take the list to examine more than a genuine want to help. House elves were more something his mum dotted upon and it was a bit embarrassing finding scribblings in old yearbooks or bathroom stalls referring to his mum as the 'part house elf of Hogwarts'. "I know these," he nodded confidently. He wouldn't bother telling Pips that some could be easily collected rather than purchased. He didn't have the patience for a house elf crisis. Orders being orders and all that.
Now, it had been QUITE a while since Charles had been a student and even then he had never been particularly friendly with the house elves. Certainly not enough to know any of them by name. He was not surprised that his grandson was, however. He was more his mother's son that he would let on. Ah, a testament to what his precious sun blossom had accomplished during her Hogwarts years!
"Oh well isn't that just SPLENDID! Eiji, you can help our floppy eared friend out!" Charles was still unsure what to make of Trentula's decision to make the house elves act as the caretakers of Hogwarts rather then fill the spot with another capable hand, though he supposed it made sense as well and was more pooling the school's already existing resources rather than expediting. And he still couldn't be MORE proud of the young man in his accomplishment of becoming Headmaster! "Do hope these ingredients are for general supply rather than any one specific purpose."
He was teasing. Somewhat.
When the list was taken, Pips let out a loud
hiccup! Nerves were getting the better of him. Pips just wanted to get the ingredients Mister Master Headmaster and Mister Master Potions needed and return to the kitchens where Pips did his bestest work.
But a smile did appear on Pip's face when the Young Sir said that he knew of the ingredients that were on the list. Would he help Pips? Mister Master Headmaster didn't tell Pips that he couldn't get help... Pips just hoped no one told Algamus. Or that Algamus showed up. Pips didn't wanted to be smacked, oh no Pips didn't.
It was at that point Pips finally stood back to normal, no longer bowing for what had to have been a very, very long time. Big eyes looked from the Young Sir to Mister Minister for Magics.
"Oh yessus, Mister Minister for Magics. Pips is getting ingredients for all sorts of uses. For Mister Master Potions and the studentsies." For extra emphasis, Pips nodded his head rapidly, his ears flopping this way and that.
Hiccup, hiccup. "And Pips would like the help very much, Pips would," he added as an afterthought to the Young Sir and Mister Minister for Magics. Pips still did not know where they kept the leechsies, mucus of flobberwormies, and other things in this place.
