Alice betrayed no emotion as the entire thing went down. Way down deep inside she felt sorry for the idiot Astronomy professor. Obviously she could not show this. It was almost as if he wanted to be punished. That was absurd, right? Yet how else to interpret the man's actions - so close on the heels of the dismissal of the headmistress and Professor Stewart?
Out of the corner of her eye she noticed Jessa briefly reaching to hold hands with Derfael. She ignored it because there were bigger things to focus on. Both prefects would probably be dismissed soon enough anyway now that the deed was done. Vaguely she wondered if they were going to get points from Julian for reporting the incident.
"What did he mean by that?" she asked out loud after the Astronomy professor walked away. "It sounded ridiculous." But she was never very good at Astronomy. Warily, she glanced up at the moon. Hmmm. |
