Hogwarts RPG Name: Lola A. Second Year | Mischievous Niffler Alice smiled and greeted each staff member as they came in, though now there were multiple conversations going on at once and she didn't have the chance to properly greet them all by full name as she had been doing previously. Nevertheless, Gaston, Katrina, Haraldur, and Noble all got smiles and nods. SPOILER!!: Headmistress Though the weather outside had been wet and gloomy, the headmistress was not one to let that get to her. A peach orange dress was in order for bringing a little sunshine and warmth into the room. But it also served as a symbol of sort for the new term that was beginning, for wellness and energy.
Regina appeared to be in such spirits, especially in comparison to the events of the term prior. The bruises she had gained had gone away, though some of the scars hadn't and were still visible if one looked close enough. But none of that mattered to her in that moment. The exact cause of that was something she herself wasn't sure of. It could have been the events that transpired over the summer, or the fact that she was now forty-five and appreciating the little things more and more each day, or maybe she was just excited to be back in the castle again with work to keep her preoccupied once more.
"Hello, everyone," she said with a smile as she stepped onto the dais. As per usual, she strolled over to the left side of the table and made her way around. Blue eyes met with everyone that was already seated, and she began to take note of who wasn't there ... until a particular face who wouldn't be there snuck into her mind.
Pushing that thought away for the moment, she continued putting one foot in front of the other, her crème-coloured heals clicking and clacking, and took her seat at the middle of the table. Alice instinctively rose to her feet when the headmistress walked in wearing a magnificent peach orange dress. It was what all the professors did in Romania when the headmistress/master entered. "Headmistress," she said, meeting her gaze respectfully and dipping her head slightly. She didn't allow any embarrassment to show on her features as she sat back down. She wondered how strict her new boss would be compared to her previous ones in Romania. Alice smiled slightly as Tristan full named her - just as she had just done to him and all the other professors she'd greeted by name. "I am ready for this term, yes, I have lots of experience in the teaching field. I also studied my predecessors to determine our students levels of knowledge." SPOILER!!: Foster! Tristan was such a kind and friendly gentleman and he hoped to get to know him better over the year. “I’m well, thank you. Hogwarts has thus far lived up to its reputation. I’d love to tell you all about my time at Ilvermorny. Maybe tomorrow I can pay you a visit and we can have a nice chat.” The students would be flooding the castle soon and the thought of talking walk out on the grounds the next day was pleasing.
His stomach did a little flop when he saw the Headmistress enter the Great Hall. She appeared to carry herself almost as if she were royalty and he smiled politely as she passed him. Foster waited for her to take her seat before breathing one last deep breath. He wanted nothing more than to get the task over with. He looked down the table at the other new professors and wondered when they would be carrying out their instructions.
Before he could act, Katrina entered and sat down beside him. Another new professor, so he assumed she was just as nervous as he was. "I'm well, thank you." He watched her pour her drink into her mug. "Cinnamon. Such a lovely spice." He placed both hands on the table to urge himself along. "If you will excuse me, I wish to get this task out of the way before I chicken out."
Feeling as if he may burst from the anxiety, he slowly stood and picked up his guitar before walking to the front of the staff table. He made his way to the middle of the table, right in front of Regina, put the strap of his guitar around his neck and cleared his throat. He still had no idea why she had requested such a thing from him, but the message that had been owled to him was very specific that all new professors must complete the task at the opening feast. “Headmistress Hawthorne, per your written request, I have prepared a song for you and Hogwarts tonight. I hope it satisfies the requirement.” His nervous fingers gripped the guitar as he strummed out the first few chords, then began singing the hastily written song. “I’d like to thank Willie Nelson for the inspiration for this song,
To all the schools I’ve loved before
I’ve traveled in and out their doors
Then Hogwarts came along
But I dedicate this song
To all the schools I’ve loved before
To the students that I once addressed
I have to say I’ve taught the best
For helping me to grow, I owe a lot, I know
To the students that I’ve taught before
Then this new position opened
Aimed to steal my heart away
And to you I am beholden
My loyalty is here to stay
To all the schools I’ve loved before
I’ve traveled in and out their doors
Then Hogwarts came along
I still dedicate this song
To all the schools I’ve loved before”
Once the last words were sung, he stood before her, only a moment longer, then removed the guitar from his body and held it loosely in his left hand as he headed back to his seat. He hoped it had met her request and was eager to hear what the others had prepared.
"My my..." she muttered softly to herself as Professor Foster walked in front of the table with his guitar and started playing music. She listened to him sing with a mixture of admiration and stunned apprehension. It was a good song and she admired his talent, but were all supposed to sing??? If so, then she missed that memo - and oh dear, how unprofessional that would be! When the song was over, she slammed her palms together and started enthusiastically clapping. "What talent you have, Professor Foster Davis!" she called across the table to him after he had sat down. Alice allowed herself to let out a small chuckle when Mr. Wishart asked if gym instructor was like flying instructor. "Not quite, sir. Gym instructor is used to describe a person who teaches physical exercises, usually within a building with exercise equipment. It is a Muggle term. I am a Squib, which is why I was given control of extracurriculars not involving magic. Are there many Squibs at Hogwarts, Mr. Wishart?" She pondered his question for a moment before smiling and nodding. "I learned to love Romania, though it was not my home country. I must say it is good to be back." "Well thank you," she said with a small smile, inclining her head graciously at the Muggle Studied professor. "Teaching in Romania took a few years to get used to. The rules can be strict, and we didn't have the resources of a place like Hogwarts or Ilvermorny. But after those first few years it became much easier. The change in temperature took the longest to get used to, but the language was easy because half of my family speaks it. I grew up bilingual." Kay's insistence that Hogwarts was perfectly safe caused Alice's eyebrows to raise skeptically. "Hogwarts does seem to face many more threats than is usual for a school though, yes?"
She opted to lean waaay back in her chair as that annoying plant was sent back past her to Kay's plate. Honestly, why did he have to do that with her right in the middle?! Her eyes narrowed in annoyance and she was glad when the headmistress chided him. "Is there bad blood between you two?" she asked, lowering her voice so that hopefully only Kay would hear.
