They were pretty friendly and inclusive like that. Quote:

Ther was plenty more o her mind of course, but those seemed to be at the forefront. Kye looked at the yellow banners... Yay for them, but she had really wanted to go out on a high note. Who wouldn't? She was lost in thought as she looked around and finally took a seat at her table. Don't cry. Not yet. There was Kye! Skylar raised one hand and wiggled her fingers lazily at the other dormmate. She was curious as to her plans for the Fall, because she hadn't really talked to her too much on future. They'd catch up after the feast in the dorm though. Exchange contact info and the like. At least Sky could only hope... Quote:

Looking up, she also wiggled a finger at Kye. Her girls were all here. It was making her emotional.
But for Junia's question, the Head Girl almost... had nothing to say. Did she have plans yet? Besides her usual meet ups with friends, she had hopes for visiting other places here in Europe. Plans to visit her parents were bound to happen, though. It had been a while since she visited. "Nothing too significant." Pause. "We should make plans... as official graduates. Unless you're all tired of seeing me everyday for years." She managed a tiny grin. It was obviously a joke (or was it?) but it did sound fun, don't you think? The summer following graduation always seemed to be the source of all the hype. No words needed for Vivian indeed, and Skylar was definitely appreciative of her shoulder at the moment. At least there was one thing of comfort among the millions of swirling thoughts in her head right now.
She DID smile though at Vivian's answer to Junia's question. "You're not the one who anyone would be tired of ..." she said, in retort, eyes glancing upward at the bestie, completely implying that she was the boring one here. Quote:

(Yes, of course, there had also been that zombie apocalypse but EXAMS!)
He'd survived everything this term.
And while he was happy about all that, he was also somewhat wary of what was coming next. People talking about potentially not returning to Hogwarts after the inferi attack had made him feel a little off. Was that a possible outcome for him too? Would his parents want to pull him? For fear of finding out the answer to exactly that question, Cam had only written the bare minimum of letters home, adding the occasional "secret" extra one for his sister.
They wouldn't though, would they? It hadn't been THAT bad.
Hey, he was A L I V E.
Fidgeting around with his fork, Cam absently looked down the Slytherin table. He should probably say goodbye to the ones leaving. Skylar for sure. He was going to miss her, especially during Quidditch practice. She'd done a good job in his opinion.
Okay, could they all just go home now? He was ready to get out of here, even if the future was uncertain regarding this place. Skylar glanced down at the table, taking in some of the younger housemates. Cameron especially was one she wanted to talk to as her co-beater for the last two years. She was going to miss beating with him because for the most part they'd finally worked in a whole routine.
She'd definitely be writing him. And saying a proper goodbye when they weren't all the way down the table. Quote:

A part of him wanted to turn back and spare himself the heartache, but he knew he couldn't. He owed it to them to give them a proper goodbye. Clutching his cane tighter, he hobbled to the Slytherin table. "Good evening, everybody," he greeted. He gave the Baron a polite nod of acknowledgement and managed a small, wobbly smile for Patrick, Slate, Cameron, and Juni. Hopefully they would forgive him for the lack of individual hellos. The aftermath of the Inferi attack and the annual round of goodbyes put an enormous strain on his heart and made conversation nearly impossible!
As his eyes scanned the table, painful memories of that night came rushing back...Vivian and Felicity's broken arms, Junia's head injury. He'd lost count of the number of times he wished he could've taken those injuries in their place! Then his heart skipped a beat as he came to Flynn. He hadn't expected to see him back at Hogwarts! As happy as he was to see him, it didn't quite erase the sad realization of just how close he'd come to dying. Gaston had to take several deep breaths before he was able to push his emotions aside long enough to force a smile. He knew this one wasn't much for sentimentality, and he didn't want to make him uncomfortable. "Congratulations, Flynn," he said, handing him a box that contained a quill pen. "Good luck in your future endeavors, whatever they may be." The important thing was that he still had a future!
Gaston's bright blue eyes landed on a group of seventh year girls (Felicity, Kye, Junia, and Vivian), and he felt a surge of pride. He'd had them every year but their first and watched them grow into strong, smart young witches. "Vivian, Felicity, Kye, Junia..." he said, beaming at each girl in turn. His eyes lingered on Junia for a second with an apologetic look. He was sorry for getting annoyed with her during the inferi attack; he was just on edge because he thought he was going to die that night. "Ladies, it's been a pleasure having you in my classes the past years. Congratulations to all of you!"He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out four more boxes, giving one to each girl.
There was still one more goodbye at this table, and it was the one Gaston had been dreading all night. Well, there was no turning back now... He heaved a shuddery sigh as he turned to Skylar. One look at her was all it took to send his thoughts back to the first time he ever talked to her, the time she comforted him after that disaster of a cooking lesson... so many memories! "Skylar..." he began, but his voice broke the moment he tried to speak. She had no idea how much she'd inspired him! There were time when he felt so alone and disliked that he doubted he was going much good at Hogwarts, but if Skylar Diggory liked him, he knew he had to be doing something right. "Congratulations and t-thank you... for being a great student, b-but most of all... for letting me g-get to know you..."
There was so much more he wanted to say, but his words failed. His head bowed, and he had barely enough time to fish the box containing her quill pen out of his pocket before he had to press his free hand to his eyes against the tears that threatened to fall. Seeing the Charms Professor hobbling over to the their table, Skylar sat up straighter, wondering if he would see what she wrote in the Memory book. He congratulated Flynn first, then all her dormmates ... and for the briefest of seconds, the Captain was sure he'd forgotten she was a seventh year too. Her heart sank and she hadn't realized she'd been holding her breath.
Then. No. His words. The breaking. The scars on his face. She felt herself slipping too, subconsciously, her hand reached to hold onto Vivian's thigh for support, as she listened but there was no more being strong. As she listened to Gaston Marchand speaking, she could feel the tears welling up and before she even knew what she was doing, she was up out of her seat and flung her arms around him. "Thankkkk... thank you. You take care now, please?" Because she really didn't fancy reading his name in the Obituary section of the Prophet. "And don't forget about me."
