Nettie wrinkled her nose at the smell of the corpse flower. YUCK. If she was sitting any closer to the flower, she might have found herself gagging. She didn't really know anything about corpse flowers, although she'd heard about them before. She raised her hand after flipping through her textbook and looking for the chapter on corpse flowers and giving it a little skim.
"Well, corpse flowers all smell terrible, which is why only flies and gross beetles want to pollinate them or go anywhere near them," she said. Did that sound rude and uppity? Oops.
