Her excitement was evident and she had to contain herself so she wouldn't explode quidditch all over the poor boy.
"That's all I say about it for now. You will understand it more when you see your first game." "I'm muggle born too. Did I already say that? I sometimes forget when I get excited. Anyway, I had no idea about any of this before I received my letter last summer. It was quite a shock." She hoped he would feel more comfortable knowing he wasn't the only one to feel so out of sorts around all the magical folks.
Just as she was about to go on, she noticed the younger girl approach and stand near them. After Ewan asked her if she was okay, Emmalyn offered
"Would you like to join us? We are chatting about brooms and quidditch, and what's it's like coming here the first time being a muggleborn." She motioned the girl to come closer.
"I need some candy suggestions too. I want to stock up for Hogwarts." Quote:

She didn't mention the ghosts or strange painting that were showing up all over the castle. Scaring him before he got there wasn't the best idea.
"So, it's just you and your dad?" She hoped she wasn't being too personal. "I haven't seen my parents in about a year. They dropped me off to catch the Hogwarts Express last fall and said if I chose to go to a magical school, I couldn't come back home." Her face dropped a moment, then she perked back up. "It's okay, really. I think they will come around one day. It was all just too much for my dad, and my mom couldn't leave him." She shook her head and wondered how she would have felt if it would have been her child.
Her bright smile came back in full force when Ewan asked about houses. "I'm a Hufflepuff! I love being a Hufflepuff. All of my housemates are so kind and we all help each other. They are my family now." Not wanting to make the rest of the houses seem bad, since she had no idea what house Ewan would be sorted into. "The other houses are great too. Most of the students at Hogwarts are great. There are a few you want to steer clear of, like Zita, but most are great." She wouldn't get into the professors. Most of them were great too, but there were a few that that were down right scary. "Are you nervous about being sorted? It doesn't hurt."
Ewan frowned. 'How could any parent do that', he thought. He couldn't imagine what he'd do without his Dad. Well, in all honesty, he didn't know how he managed to keep everything together when he lost his mum.
"Really? they just... left you there? Aha that sucks, I'm so sorry"and he really was sorry for the girl. He'd only just met Annalyn but no one deserved that.
He continued
"It's just me and Dad. Mum died a few years back... She... wasn't very well. Cancer." Looking down slightly, he put his hands in his pockets, almost automatically.
"But it's okay, I have Dad and he's great!. Almost had a heart attack when I had my letter!" Smiling now, remembering the shocked look on his Dads face. He'd almost turned into a ghost.
|"Hufflepuff do sound pretty cool though! Taking you in like that. I wonder if I'll be in Hufflepuff" Ewan continued.
"I don't mind where I'm sorted as long as I get along with my house! and... Who's Zita? Smiling now...Ewan was a friendly person and it wasn't often that he got into trouble. Knowing who to stay away from may come in use.
