"How convenient of her inner eye," Noble remarked, looking less than amused as he turned back to the dallying Alec. "And interesting how you choose to remember your standard Prefect duties right at this very moment, after trying to shirk them all year." He had an office just down the corridor from the Snake common room, and wasn't completely oblivious. "Forgive me if I don't believe you, and rather consider you're trying to pull the wool over my eyes. Again."
He coughed, looking along the table of Snakes. "I'm sure they can live without you for ten minutes. I'm also quite sure that Professor Vance will be more than understanding when I tell her that it's to ensure all your extracurricular hard work didn't go to waste."
And that last bit wasn't a lie. Alec's potion was pretty much done, only requiring the final step to be completed. Noble just had a few less pleasant tasks to be completed first.
