Despite being (mostly) blind, Adam could tell there were other people in the room. Perhaps it was his hearing, which had increased since his eyesight lost. Perhaps it was his sense of smell. Either way, he knew he wasn’t along with the strange language speaker he had bumped into. He felt a draft on the back of his neck. Perhaps he better move further into the room.
Whack.
Tap.
Whack.
Adam reached out with his black and white stick trying to feel his way around the room. He hit a few (too) many things as he shuffled along.
Hmm…perhaps finding morsels was going to be harder then he thought… The cold draft? Yes, that would be him, Albert Morgenstern, whose timing was always perfect. He'd already secured his (low-quality) tea, and comfy armchair before the blind mand got the chance to whack him good. He may be cold-hearted, but he did feel the man's pain...somehow. But then, he wasn't an acquaintance...and perhaps a person he never would want to meet ever while he's in the Ministry. They already have enough crazy in the world.
More people flocked into the lounge, and he was a bit relieved that some of them were normal people. People like him who'd pay a day's worth to not be there socializing. Albert can and will socialize if the setting permitted calm and order. This event was, obviously, far from that. The Creatures Man gave a polite nod towards Olly, a fellow Level Four employee. He'd seen her around and was one of those employees he can tolerate. She's on his list of good-people he can (probably) have a good conversation with.
Next was a new face. And one who had no manners whatsoever. No hellos, just went straight for the cinnamon buns. "Don't they breed proper human beings anymore?" Albert murmured into his cup and took a sip of his tea. The hot liquid wasn't helping because it tasted sub-par. Merlin's sake, close this resort down now. Low-quality tea was a sin, did they know? But then again...what do they know? "Tsk." A death glare was given to his offending drink.
Another new face arrived, and this woman (Angelica), gave him a look that spoke a thousand words. For one who comes off as indifferent and cold on a daily basis, the woman should find herself receiving a calculating glare and a raise of an eyebrow. He followed her with his eyes and was unamused with her antics. She could've done better than that. She could've just told the man outright that he was breaking the resort piece by piece, glue him to a chair and give him food. And here he thought she had the guts to face the man head on. Weak.
While his teacup was raised to his lips, Albert made another calculating gaze at a newcomer, (Mercy). She was a bit hard to read, but one thing was certain: she looked awkward. The man had a hard time figuring out what the matter was, considering that he'd been comfortable during his first day in the Ministry. Shouldn't the new ones feel assured and empowered now that they work for the government? Albert sighed, blinked once, and took a sip of his tea quietly. There was just one thing that left him with an unsettling feeling, though. There was a person in this resort that has his file, and perhaps, assuming that all of the Creatures employees' records were reviewed by the new boss, he or she might already be out and about discreetly hunting them down one by one, quietly making observations.
And speaking of observations, Albert's eyes followed the next person (Jake) to arrive. A man who must be as tired as him...or more. He was a familiar face, again, having passed him by in one of the corridors, or when Aurors come by doing their patrols after work hours...yes, yes he'd seen him before. But because he couldn't care less about their names or their existence even, Albert chose not to acknowledge him, and just averted his gaze somewhere else...somewhere interesting, like his now empty teacup. There was some commotion going on around her with a seemingly blind man and some disgruntled employees that she didn't want to get involved with, so January began to make her way to an empty armchair. Before she could get far, a man passed her with a nod and a smile and a comment that made her realize she was being very transparent with her emotions at the moment. "Albert," she greeted the man as he walked past to the armchairs to which she was also headed. She continued on her way and took up residence in the armchair next to her former coworker. "If I drink anymore tea today I think I'll explode." So, that told him just how nervous she was, if nothing else. Upon hearing his name, Albert blinked, and looked at the occupied armchair next to him and snorted at the remark. "Quite impossible Miss Bones, but your present situation allows you to feel that way, though, don't blame the hot chocolate if it gives you an upset stomach." he said gesturing to the cup in her hands. "Congratulations, by the way, Senior Undersecretary." Albert continued, his words laced with sincerity. "You will be missed in Creatures." Her normalcy will definitely be missed. "I've heard the Minister is quite a handful. Makes me wonder how he got the position, really." At his age, he has established a good network of friends and acquaintances that fed him information, before it even becomes public.
