a bit of madness is key | miss chanandler bong | those cunning folks use any means

Haraldur was hovering on his broom but chose to stay close to the first years. They’d only had a few flying lessons after all. Even though the cushioning charm was placed on the ground as always, it was important the young students were taught the proper technique or they could hurt themselves once they set off to fly on their own someday. He paid no attention to the students who didn’t want to fly. His job was to look out for the ones who did and no flying instructor would be mad enough to force people up on brooms. It was disaster waiting to happen. His main mission however, was to steer clear of the sand that was flying around. He’d prefer not to have it in his feathers or in the tail of his broom. Thank you.

One Hufflepuff first year did somehow end up in the water with a loud splash. After checking that she girl was all right (and so did the Gryffindor Prefect and Laurel), he sort of sent an apologetic look in Laurel’s direction.

... Oops?

He couldn’t be around everyone at all times and accidents did happen. The Healer, Miss MacMillan was never shy in telling him the students ending up in the Hospital Wing were mostly due to accidents in his classes or during the Quidditch matches. But then, if they didn’t fall into the water, how would they leeeeeeeeearn not to? He resented being scolded by the Healer and usually just scowled and gave the kid a chocolate frog. No limbs had so far been detached from anybody so what was her real issue with him? Instead of mulling over this, his colleague was taking charge again. Gather ‘round kids, gather ‘round.

Once Laurel turned to him to take over; his mood instantly brightened. Finally, it was time for the student to really kick off and fly. Well, almost time.

”Thank you, Laurel.” He said giving her a nod before turning to the group of students that were now gathered on the ground. ”I thought we would have a little fun today,” He began, only quickly glancing over at Zita and Maxton, sorry kiddos, their definition of “fun” probably wasn’t the same as his. ”Since this is a joint lesson and many of you who are here aren’t taking flying as an elective class and the rest of you are quite skilled flyers,” His protégés/babies/heart and soul and moon and stars Quidditch players received an acknowledging nod here, ”I thought we could play a little game called Shuntbumps.” Mixed reactions here, as he’d suspected. He continued on. ”The game, for those of you who don’t know, consists of a group of players trying to knock each other off their brooms. The last flyer standing, ahem, flying on their broomstick still: is the winner. Now, this sounds more dangerous than it is.” He quickly added not to scare the younger ones. ”Children often enjoys this game more so than adults, actually.”

The flying instructor crossed his legs, while he hovered on his broom in front of the small crowd of students.”There are a number of reasons why this is the case, the lack of advanced rules or challenging tasks might be two of them, but it doesn’t have to be a children’s game. Can anyone think of any modifications which would perhaps make this game more modern? Or more fun, even?”

Here’s to all Gryffindors suggesting they add a flaming sea of fire beneath the players.

ooc: Heyooo! This is a quick one;

- Can you mention any modifications to the game Shuntbumps that would make it more modern? Or modifications to make it more fun? To attract some older players?

You have approx 24 hours, (tomorrow 1st of February at 7 pm CET) before we move onnnnn.
