While he had been, you know, lowkey panicking about literally everything in the world, Abra maaaaaaaaay have let his gaze wander across the room towards a certain someone and maaaaaaaaaaaaay have caught Derf's eye and maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay have mentally flailed a little more and then quickly looked away again so that he didn't get ~emotional~, only to see Zoryn giving him the classic double-thumbs-up which... actually, no, that did sort of make him smile for a moment. He'd also caught Bel's look too, and met it with a nod and slightly more of a strained smile, which was as good as he could manage given his head was already in a bit of a spin and had sort of been since the moment he'd entered the room, pewter cauldron notwithstanding.

As for the actual potion brewing, luckily Junia was there to save the day ONCE AGAIN. Honestly, not all heroes wore capes. Some wore Slytherin robes and had grown up wanting to be princesses.

Right. Metal spoon. Yes. Spoon, then cups. That was the order. Abra took the metal spoon out of his own potion kit, but, unlike Junia, he didn't stop to clean it first. Initially it was just an oversight, but as soon as he stuck the spoon into the pumpkin innards, he realised what he'd done. Anyone would be forgiven for thinking that this would make him redouble his panicking efforts but, even though he knew it was sort of a mistake, Abra reasoned to himself that... well... it did speed up the process a little bit. For someone who struggled with timings and was already starting to lag behind, in a way that actually worked in his favour actually. Just, maybe not in the potion's favour, but he didn't exactly have high hopes for it succeeding in the first place.

Trying to work as quickly as he could, but also sort of already dithering between the 'try as hard as possible so I maybe won't screw up and get yelled at' and the 'don't try very hard so that way when I inevitably do mess it up it doesn't matter quite so much because it's not like actual failing' options, Abra scooped out the innards of the pumpkin. It was actually a lot trickier than he expected it to be, especially as the lid he'd cut off was a little too small to really get some good spoon manoeuvring in there, but he did it, and listened to Junia as he did so.

Okay, now, SEE? Already Abra could see another point where he'd have gone wrong if left to his own devices.

"I didn't even remember we were meant to take the seeds out," he muttered to Junia, keeping his eye on Noble and his voice low and also switching to Arabic for added security. Last thing he wanted was for the professor to overhear him admitting to that. Or... actually, that went for everyone else, too. But Abra knew about the seeds now, so he knew to make sure he kept them separate. Still glancing at Junia pretty frequently to keep up with what she was going, he, too, found a cup in his potions kit and - this time consciously skipping the cleaning part - used it to add two measures (uhhh... more or less... he was in a hurry) of hopefully seedless pumpkin guts to his cauldron.

"Incendio." Pointing his wand at the fire pit beneath his cauldron, Abra lit the flame there and set it tooooooo...... uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........... tooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

He snuck a peak at Junia's set-up again.

And squinted.

And squinted more.

... low? Medium? It was... hard to tell, so he settled for somewhere between the two.

At one point, Abra had definitely caught something Noble had said about adding the water to the potion now. As for how much or any specifics, he didn't have the remotest idea. Because of this, for the first time that lesson, Abra leaned across to try and get a look at Junia's notes. He had to squint quite a lot and also lean in towards the parchment to even get a good look at the words, and that was not to mention having to deal with deciphering the mixed up letters when he could actually see them. Eventually he made out the words 'cup of water', and quickly set about filling up the same cup he'd been using, this time with water using 'Aguamenti', before he added that to the cauldron as well.

Then... Merlin, what? What now? Where was he? Moths? Moths.

Uh... Moths? Abra rifled through his potions kit, trying to find the right vial but also trying not to look too much like he was struggling because he already felt pretty useless in this class as it was. The more he struggled and relied on Junia's help (which, okay, maybe he did need to do that) the more he started to convince himself that Noble was watching him and judging him and thinking (knowing) he was as useless as he looked. Abra did look up at one point, catching Junia's smile and returning it with one of his own...

... before noticing she already had a Bouncing Bulb in her hand, like so many other students around them. That was enough to kick him into a higher gear, and Abra tried to hurry his search for the moths, though then the more he rushed, the harder it was to take the time to decipher the labels. They were in here, he just needed to find them.
