A potion, however…well, you can put that in someone’s drink anytime you like...” As long as it was within the period of the potion’s stability, but that wasn’t a particular worry here. The pompion potion had a decent shelf life.

...oh, had he forgot to mention that if he deemed that they'd brewed the potion properly, they'd be able to take some away?

Huh. That made sense. Maxton nodded when the Professor - well actually Bel - answered his question. He scribbled down some more notes before carrying on with his potion.

The pumpkin pulp was already in his cauldron and simmering so it was time for the dried moths. Three went into his mortar and then he pounded at them until they were into an extremely fine powder and his arm ached.

He fetched a bouncing bulb from the front of the classroom and quickly moved back to his workstation. A stunning spell. Right, he could do that. "Stupefy," the Slytherin said firmly, wand pointing at the bulb which quivered and then rolled stunned onto it's side.

Now to chop you up!

Max did exactly as the Professor had demonstrated and proceeded to first peel and then chop the non-bouncing bulb. So far so good. His chopping skills weren't brilliant, but he'd managed to keep all his fingers which was a bonus.

He weighed the bulb and put aside the 100 grams required for the potion. chopped up bulb and powered moths were ready for the Professor's next instruction. He used his sleeve to wipe away a bead of sweat from his forehead. Potions was hard work.
