At this, the box gave another violent shake and Hirsch gave it a look before turning to the students. Nothing to see here.
Why use the Ensnarement charm over Incarcerous? Well, that might require a little more thinking from this Slytherin. She had already used Incarcerous before during one of her duels from duelling club and it had been successful. Considering that, this Slytherin was probably more prone to using a spell that she had already known (and "master", so she likes to believe.) So, as to the extent of acceptability, Vivian would have to rack her brain a little more for this.

Ropes versus vines? Vivian was no advocate for using plants to harm or trap people, but she'd at least have to try and look for the positive side of this situation. The prefect raised her hand to answer. "Nobody likes being trapped with ropes, Professor. I would feel attacked, and it might make the victim panic, which isn't what the Ministry people would like," she said. "And ropes are rough in texture, might leave a few scratches on the skin." The thought of it made Vivian's nose wrinkle, too.

Oh! It was time for the practice part already? That was fast, but Vivian was excited to start trying the Ensnarement Charm over Incarcerous, which she had already tried before. The Slytherin took out a quill and scribbled down the notes on the board onto her parchment. She was determined to be a better notes-taker this year because she knew she'd need all the notes possible for OWLs and maybe even NEWTs if she passed this one. Hopefully. She needed to pass Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Finishing up her notes, Vivian then tucked the parchment and quill inside her bag again. She was going to have to try this time, but the mention of 'fifth to seventh years' made her perk up a little. She was part of the older student squad now. Wow! The blond was half-glad she was now considered mature like the students above her level, but was a little 'aww' at it as well. It meant facing more challenging stuff, but this Slytherin was up for it... as long as it was successful. Heh.

To start off, the prefect practiced the wand movement. Clockwise, and flick. Oh, that wasn't that bad. Vivian made a few more practice attempts with the wand movement before it felt more familiar and at ease to her. "Irretio... Irretio...." At least it didn't have too many syllables. "Ee-REH-tee-oh...."
