Born two weeks early in Naples while her mother was visiting friends, Emma is both the eldest child and only daughter to Arya and Sabel Dakest. Unlike her parents, she herself never lived in Italy, but they do have a small home there that the family frequented when she was young, and so she likes to make up extravagant stories about time spent there.

When she was just two years old, her parents welcomed their first son and second child into the family, Lucas Sebastian. While her childhood is filled with memories of time spent with her little brother, neighbors, and other members of her family, it is also distinctly void of memories with her father. Sabel Dakest was just beginning his career as an auror when his eldest two children were born, and as result spent little time with them in their early years. This resulted in extreme negative effects in both Emma and Lucas, specifically causing Emma to become overly clingy when he was home. She would do whatever she could to keep him home, and later would often have nightmares of him leaving and never returning.

The Dakest family had a holiday tradition of visiting Grandfather Keith in Canada and the Lovegoods’ in Brazil every year that Emma loved. Those families being so far away always made for a good adventure and learning what she could remember of Portuguese.

When she was six years old - around the time she began to exhibit magical abilities - she began attending St. Woboldo's Primary School in London. She also began ballet lessons as she seemed to have a liking for the arts and it was one of the few actives she would focus on.

When Emma wasn't in school or in ballet class, she enjoyed 'helping' her mother with her younger brothers when she could remember to. Otherwise she was off on some grand adventure, usually with whoever she came across first. This tended to be the Kettleburn neighboors or the other kids in Ambleside that she grew to call friends. Often Emma could be found running around with them in the countryside.

In the summer of '93 she was old enough to finally receive her wand, and prepare herself for following her parents footsteps in attending Hogwarts.

Emma is all bright eyes, exorbitant energy, and positive spirits. Much like her mother, making new friends comes easily to her, and she is never short of a smile for anyone. Emma loves loves LOVES people almost as much as she loves animals, which means a lot because she is fully prepared to die for any and every animal. Her list of best friends has grown just as much as her list of friends in general. For Emma, everyone she meets is a friend. The best of them are her brother Lucas (who she fondly calls Lulu), The Kettleburns (yes, all of them), Beau Montague, Alanna Botros, Mercy Carden, and many more that her creator can't be bothered with listing. Much like both of her parents, she loves both her friends and family unconditionally, and is willing to do anything for them.

Speaking of creatures, Emma has inherited Arya's love for animals and will often find creatures to either keep as her own pet or nurse back to health and release them where they belong (sometimes, this means giving them to a friend).

Over the years, Emma has learned to be a bit more responsible. That isn't to say that she can't still be talked into anything that sounds remotely like an adventure, just that she has learned to think of safety first. Sometimes. At least she's gotten better with dueling.

As it turns out, she did in fact mother's diligence, but Emma chooses to use this skill sparingly. From teaching herself BSL to new dance styles to becoming skilled enough in quidditch, there's not been anything Emma can't do once she's decided it's something she loves.

At times Emma can be overly excited, which sometimes causes her to speak rapidly and loudly. She is slow to anger and quick to love, which doesn't leave for many enemies. If Emma does dislike someone, they usually have given her good reason. She believes in living life to the fullest because it's SO amazing and living it any other way is doing a disservice to yourself.
