Lachlan, who'd been watching the screens with rapt fascination, couldn't quite explain the way each individual situation was making him feel. After the first challenge and his own elimination, he'd filtered out of caring about whatever horrible thing had been presented in the following few. They'd chosen not to make any of this easy. Potions? Loved ones? It was all the same to staff and faculty. And to him, Lach could admit. None of this was real. It was a guise, all for the sake of pushing each competitors past their breaking points.
Or so he was telling himself. Otherwise, he would've packed his things and went back home after that first challenge.
Once his fellow Americans had started to appear in the stands: dazed, angry, and somewhat broken, Lachlan stood from his seat, pushing through the crowd to get a bit closer to where they sat. Mostly for the sake of Valerie and Jesús. Sure, he had a fondness for all his Ilvermorny brothers and sisters, but everyone had their favorites. And it didn't surprise him to hear this level of viciousness from Valerie. She was like an avenging angel in that regard. Eventually placing a careful hand on her shoulder, Lach took the seat just behind the two. "Are you okay?" The question was meant for the both of them, in truth.
