I know you’ve been missing them.” She pushed the Dunkin Donuts bag towards him. “Go on, take a peek. See if she got your favorite.” She hadn’t checked yet, but she was sure their friend from overseas knew their favorite donuts.

Was he just thrilled? Melanie had been looking forward to the look on his priceless face ever since she had seen the bag. “I hope they’re charmed to stay fresh.” What a waste if not. “I do have another very important surprise - “ and before she could continue, before Melanie could tell Duncan the good news, they had an intruder. Melanie quirked an eyebrow in her direction.

“Valerie,” she said simply. She straightened up in her chair. “Do about what, Valerie?” she asked simply, but she didn’t let her eyes move from her student’s. She knew exactly what Valerie referred to; the challenge. She was angry about the challenge. Melanie expected no less. There had been reasons for hers and Duncan’s silence, though, but Valerie didn’t need to know that. “Are you angry?” She asked and slid her chair back so she could stand and face Valerie.
Her eyes narrowed on the History of Magic professor before flicking them back to her Potions Master. "Obviously," she replied through gritted teeth. This woman was trying her patience already and it was only knowledge that the other better Professor Williams would potentially revoke his private tutelage that kept her manners in check. "A mockery. This tournament made a mockery of us and No-Maj. What are you going to do about it?" she repeated as the hair slowly rose on the back of her neck.

She caught Lachlan's movements out of the corner of her eye, but any curiosity ceased there. She was far too concerned with what her trusted professors (one at least) had to say on the subject.
