It took longer than it should have to equate the arrival of the flying car with that of the Ilvermorny students. And Sam couldn't help but think it was an extremely underwhelming way to travel. Beetles, for a start, were one of the most ridiculous looking classic cars she'd seen to grace the streets of London. Then make it all a bit stranger, the students all seemed to be tumbling out of the boot.
Why not a boat? Or a train? Or a bus?
All of the above seemed way more practical for this many students to arrive. Her thoughts soon moved on though, as she sought the right word to describe the sense she was getting from the rubble right now. Rowdy wasn't the right fit. There was a loudness there, but not just in volume. And exuberant wasn't right either; certainly some were showy in that way. But not all.
Brash.
Maybe that was it.
Brash. She'd have to ask Dora her opinion later. She was pretty sure not ALL Americans were like this. At least, the few she already knew weren't.

"Serious, man. How many times do I hafta tell ya that you need to manage your expectations? Me? I say 'hey, there's gonna be a castle and a buncha kids staring at us', and I'm happy as a gnome in a pumpkin patch. It's nice, actually. And I wouldn't turn down a turn in a broom closet with some of those girls, you feel me?" The sixthyear grinned broadly at a girl about his age in the first row.
And who was this guy, looking at her like that? Sam pulled her bookbag further up on her shoulder, and raised an arched eyebrow that simply read: 'Try me'. She was pretty sure she'd read between his words correctly, and he wouldn't be getting
her in a broom closet anytime soon, that was for sure.
