Theeeeere he was. Jessa beamed at her bestfriend as he waved over at her, admittedly a little relieved he hadn't gone off to find someone and left her waiting. Like they'd already said, it could wait a little.
They still needed to work out the logistics of it and for a large part, the girl still needed to revisit the structure of the assessments. So yeah, he still had plenty of time...in theory.

She offered him his spoon once he'd taken a seat, ready for any and all questions he may have had--and the look on his face told her he had plenty.

As it turned out, the first question wasn't so hard to answer. The young girl took a spoon of the mixed flavoured sundae, allowing herself an extra moment to think over the answer. It was out of care more than anything else. Derf was a friend. The last thing she wanted was for him to grow as despondent as RJ had. Merlin she'd just feel a million times worse.

"Because for as much as I'm a bad person, I don't wanna be a bad person to you 'cause you're my bestfriend. It would be an objectively bad thing to take your first kiss--don't even mention Aqua--for an experiment if you wanna save it for some time special or something. 'Cause what if you look back one day and think about it and realize you're actually upset you wasted in on fueling my knowledge of concepts??" By the end, her eyes
had widened with genuine concern. She would not let her friend live with regrets.
