The divination method that will be our main focus today I'd have liked to have held outside, but yesterdays snow storm and awfully chilly temperature made that impossible." With that in mind she took out her wand and conjured forth a tea wagon complete with steaming water, tea bags, cups and cookies by the left wall.
Turning her attention to her students again as she slipped her wand back into its holster, Professor Vance asked of them. "Can each of you give me a guess as to what divination method we will be learning about today? The hints I can give you are that it's a widespread ancient practice, usually preformed outside, the centaurs used to preform it, and you need to have a steady hand and arm to able to perform the reading." Gesturing to the tea wagon she said "Feel free to help yourselves to some tea and biscuts as you consider and give method guesses." Ooc: Class has started! Feel free to jump in late, just post as if you've been there from the start. Use the hints to guess the divination method. I'll move on tomorrow around 2pm GMT+1. Skylar had been eyeing the tea wagon that the Divination Professor conjured with distaste, as she contemplated why Professors thought it was necessary to provide students with refreshments during the lessons. It all continued to make the third year very skeptical. Yea, no helping herself to the refreshments, sorry Professor, but she still didn't trust it.
She would, however, daydream about the lesson, which was exactly what she was doing until she realized that she missed the opportunity to give her suggestions as to the method they were learning about today. Yup, what Tenacius had said sounded legit with centaurs and arrows. She might as well follow her own arrow, which was in itself metaphor enough for a divination class. Pursing her lips, she jotted down some notes on arrow divination, which admittedly wasn't much that she knew, but all speculations for now. But if she had to guess, the direction the arrow went and pointed probably had things to do with it... Quote:

Whatever the reason for the good mood, it certainly made teaching easier. When the last student had quiet down Professor Vance revealed with some excitement etching her tone of voice. "As Mr Salander, Ms Kettleburn and Mr Ashburry-Hawthorne so cleverly figured out from the cluess and earns them a house point each, our class focus for today will be Belomancy." "Belomancy is a form of divination that was widely practiced in ancient times by Babylonians and Greeks among other cultures. Even our forbidden forest resident centaurs used to practice belomancy ages ago before they found other ways to interpret the messages of the planets they are so in tune with." Centauromancy or Astrology even were topics for another time and place. "Belomancy is the divination form that interprets the flight and movement of arrows as they hit a target to understand what lies ahead. Does anyone have a clue as to when, in what circumstance or occupation shooting arrows for future guidance might be of assistance to you?" Laurel finished before she started to pull away the silk from the cloaked objects beside her to reveal several quivers with arrows in different shapes and sizes sticking up as well as bows. When her eyes landed on Healer Reed, Laurel smiled at him and indicated with a hand wave that he could if he wished take a cup of tea and a biscuit. OOC: Theorize freely, be creative! All answers count even wrong ones. Let your characters answer the question of when they think or in what circumstance or occupation shooting arrows for guidance of the future might be of assistance? I'll move on around 7 pm GMT on monday night. What circumstances shooting arrows for future guidance might be of assistance? UH, what sort of question was that? Would it be any different from using tea leaves or calculating numbers? Also, were they going to be shooting arrows? IS THAT why the Professor had the lesson here because space was required? Somehow, Skylar felt this lesson could get dangerous .... potentially.
Also, why the Healer was present. Yes, she'd noticed him slipping in. And she guessed it wasn't by accident he was present for this lesson. "Shooting arrows might be of assistance if other divining methods weren't effective and you wanted to try something else. Or perhaps wanting confirmation on a particular destiny of the future..."
