ANYWAY, a simple Babbling Potion wasn't so bad.
Babbling wasn't so bad.
Still simply ignoring Paige next to her, Maggie quickly made a list of the ingredients before taking that list with her to the supply cabinet. Making sure she didn't forget anything and all that. At least it seemed they didn't have to use anything TOO gross for this potion. Somehow after seven years of Potions class even Maggie had gotten used to using leeches and bile. It was just part of the job. Besides, gloves were a thing.
Once she'd gotten everything, Maggie returned to her workstation, laying out her ingredients in the correct order that she would have to use them. Okay. Cleaning everything wasn't too hard. She even did it nonverbally. Like, she was cool like that, you know. Now. Onto adding the wa- -ter.
With a shriek Maggie JUMPED BACK away from the insane person next to her. Unfortunately, she was a second too late and ended up drenched with water anyway. D R E N C H E D. Okay, maybe not drenched but she was wet. Definitely wet. Her hair was wet. HER HAIR WAS WET. "IS THERE ANYTHING YOU'RE GOOD AT?!" She glared at Paige while trying to do damage-control on her hair. UGH UGH UGH UGH.
Would Professor Newton allow her to leave for five minutes to find a bathroom and fix it?
Getting her wand under control, Paige finally honed her magic well enough to create a steady stream of water into her cauldron and quickly filled it up to the appropriate level all the while bowing her head and offering meek apologies to everyone who happened to have suffered from her lack of focus and confidence.
.........................................including Maggie.
She was just about to offer a personal and sincere apology to her......when she went and said THAT. Normally, Paige Skeeter would have just rolled over, accepted defeat, and gone about her business. But apparently this was just not one of those instances.
"And just what, pray tell, is THAT supposed to mean," she huffed at the Slytherin, pointing her wand at her burner and setting it ablaze with no awkward side effects this time. "It's just a little water and will dry soon enough with everyone's burners being on. I didn't do it on purpose."
Water, and other things, at a simmer, Paige placed the alihosty leaves in her cauldron so that none were overlapping each other and floating neatly on the surface before noting the time.
