Post 2 || last half of prep + cooking stew Ability is nothing without Opportunity | | Creativity is Intelligence having FUN There was just a tiiiiny bit disappointment apparent on Tenacius' posture when the pretty Professor said all they'll be using is salt and pepper. Well he's really gonna have to amp these spice pair up if he hopes to makes his stew taste awesome.
Since the meats were done now it was time to do the veggies. He grabbed the head of cabbage and tossed it between his hands playfully before settling it on one hand and then aguamenti-ing it with his wand. He needed to make sure this was clean yeah? Specially its cabbage. Lotsa layers for dirt to hide in.
So chop he did the cabbage head just as the Professor showed them. Keep them leaves together, specially it looks like this is gonna be sitting and boiling for a while. Makes sense yup. Then he got a hold of this meat-like thing that reads Seitan. Veggie-meat. Yeah he knew what this was, practically the only "meat" his grandma would ever consider touching. This he sliced slightly thicker than the lamb but the length was only about half as long. But he knew the different texture would compliment the lamb and cabbage well, plus seitan would withstand the boiling longer than something like tofu.
He looked at the card again-- wait are they going to put the water first? He arched his brow as his lips pinched into a frown. How are they supposed to layer if theres water already in there? Stuff would be floating!
He set the card aside. He felt confident he had enough innate kitchen sense to know what would work and what wont. And if theyre gonna layer-- water goes in last. He then took his pre-spiced up lamb slices and started layering it at the bottom, then the thickets of the cabbage slices on top of them. Sprinkle with salt-- because it aint too early to try to keep these leaves green (even if he had a feeling it will likely look more brown when all is said and done), then another layer of the prepped lamb slices and another layer of cabbages salt and pepper. It was on the third layering set that Tenacius set the seitan chunks amongst the last smallest slivers of leftover lamb then topped it all off with the leftover cabbages and then a healthy sprinkling of salt. And finally the water. Filled it to just about submerging the topmost cabbage.
Down goes the lid and over the flames goes the cooking pot, the leonine lad carefully hooking the weighty cauldron under the tripod. Cook for an hour? Aww yeah.
He glanced quickly at his Damper dough. It was starting to noticeably rise awwyeah. |
