The boy heard a voice and it was then that he decided to turn around onto his back. He blinked and the squinted at the redhead hovering above him. Well...he was seeing pretty girls now. This wasn't a bad thing. "Are...are you an angel?" he croaked out weakly. His head hurt and the room was still spinning.
He was DYING. Still waiting for the boy to have any sort of reaction, preferably an apology for interrupting her reading, Brooklyn set a scrap of parchment inside her book to mark her page and set it next to her in the chair. She wasn’t planning on stopping her irritation with the boy until that apology happened, and going back to reading wouldn’t accomplish much. A glare might have done better, but she had the sneaking suspicion he wouldn’t understand the expression anyway. Instead, she settled on continuing to lean over to watch him, blinking up at her like an owl or some other mundane creature.
Too bad she didn’t have any of her dragons with her.
An eyebrow arched as he asked his question, in any case. She couldn’t think of any time she’d been compared to an angel before now. It was oddly flattering, in a weird way. She wasn’t sure if she liked it or was irritated at it. “That depends on your definition,” she replied instead, leaning back into her chair again and most likely disappearing from his view. She still wanted that apology.
