It seemed that the time that Janelle was dreading had come. She was going to have to give Mikey back. Now that they had bonded, that was the last thing that she wanted to do. As instructed, Janelle reached for the nearby bowl. But then........what? They didn't have to go back to the shelter right away? They could stay the whole year? Janelle was beyond happy. She could go visit Mikey whenever she wanted. This was wonderful news.

Then the news got even better. As a fifth year, Janelle had the possibility of adopting Mikey! Well hooray for being a fifth year. Turning to her new best friend, she said, "Did you hear that Mikey?" "We can stay together all year, annnnd..........if I'm lucky, we can be together forever." If Janelle didn't know better, she'd think that Mikey understood every word she said. He seemed exited and began to jump around. Giving her baby a big pat, she took out her wand. "Aguamenti", she said, and proceeded to fill the bowl with water. "Are you thirsty Mikey? I've got a nice drink for you." She set the bowl down in front of the crup and watched as lapped the water up eagerly.

When Mikey was properly hydrated, Janelle prepared to say her goodbye..........for now. "Alright buddy, it's time to go back with your other friends. But I'm going to come and visit you and we'll have lots of fun together, ok?" With that, Janelle picked Mikey up and walked over to the crup pen. She gently placed him inside and gave him one more pat. "I'll see you soon, don't you worry." Reluctantly Janelle left him and headed straight for the professor. "Thanks Professor. This was the best Care of Magical Creatures lesson ever. I'll be stopping by to see you soon." 'Cause Mikey had to be hers.
