Fluttery Pegasi Hadley was a bit bummed about missing the question. Sure she didn't know the magical name of the creature, but surely that was still what muggles called the black dog, right? No point dwelling on it, she'd just get the next question right. Hads thought long and hard about that. Why would light work, but firelight not work? Shadows maybe? "Is it...is it because they're function like shadows, Sir? Non firelight tends to be stronger and drives shadows away. But firelight is softer and often makes more shadows while flickering?"
Now that she said it out loud, she was sure it was a wrong answer. But, maybe that last part was the key. "Or is it because firelight flickers, and isn't consistent in its brightness?" Hmmm, yeah, the second one sounded like a better answer to her.
