| Post 1 Baguette | there is no D in my name | TRAITORclaw | Queenie of Narnia Carefully writing down the list of ingredients and instructions, Rula wrinkled her nose a bit at all the stirring that she'd have to do for this potion. How boring. Not that she expected making potions to be super exciting, but it was at least somewhat interesting when you spent the time doing a bunch of different things, not stirring for ten minutes straight. Meh.
But first, all the preparation stuff.
She washed her hands before pulling on her gloves and goggles. No way was she getting any of this stuff on her hands or eyes, thank you very much.
Measuring all the ingredients out was probably the easiest part of potion making, and once she had all the amounts at her workstation, she picked out the other tools she'd need and cast a quick Scourgify on them. Then it was time to mash the hairy fungus - gross - and then another Scourgify on her mortar and pestle before breaking the shell down into a powder. That took a bit more effort on her part - especially since it'd been quite awhile since she'd played Beater on a Quidditch team - but eventually it was all powder.
Next, it was time to thinly slice the caterpillars - also gross - and after Scourgify-ing the knife, dicing the bat tongue - even grosser.
But at least that was all the ingredients, so it was time to start.
The cauldron was Scourgify'd next, and then she poured the red wine and prune juice in. She set it over the burner, turned on the flame to medium, and started stirring it clockwise. Now just to wait for bubbles... Text Cut: Rula's Notes Aging PotionIngredients
~ 100ml Red Wine
~ 10ml Prune Juice
~ 2g Hairy fungus, mashed (w/ mortar & pestle)
~ 2g Tortoise Shell, powdered (w/ mortar & pestle)
~ 5g Caterpillar, sliced (thin enough to keep slices from falling apart)
~ 1 Bat Tongue, diced (cut length-wise, then dice) Instructions
1. Prepare all ingredients as listed in the ingredients list, weighing and measuring each carefully.
2. Slowly heat the red wine and prune juice (medium flame), and begin stirring clockwise until you can just see bubbles starting to form. (The mixture will be dark purple/brown)
3. Immediately add the hairy fungus and continue to stir clockwise for ten minutes. (The mixture will slowly fade to a lighter purple/brown)
4. Continuing to stir clockwise, add the tortoise shell. (The mixture will be a creamy color)
5. After eight minutes, remove the cauldron from the heat and add the caterpillar and bat tongue, making sure to continue to stir the solution in a clockwise motion for five minutes, until it changes to a creamy green colour.
6. As the potion cools, it will turn emerald green. Once it is completely cooled (about fifteen to twenty minutes), you may cease dispense the potion into appropriate vials for storage. Characteristics: Emerald Green Level: Advanced Information: The effects are dosage based; the more ingested, the older one will age
