The more clever one of these two had no doubt that it was the latter. Haddie was caught off-guard, because she didn't want to admit Katherine was her laugh-thing.

I'm calm, I'm calm, I am better than her, I need to focus...

She snorted when Haddie finally answered properly and opened her mouth to retort; but when the girl went on, it was her time to be caught off-guard.

'You deserve to be happy...'

Only the most cautious eyes, and maybe not even them, could have caught the millisecond expression of longing. However, it was soon replaced by anger - an anger not directed at Haddie at all in the deepest part of her heart, but she had conditioned herself so hard to hate the girl that she couldn't even discern.

"You want me happy?" she breathed as she leaned onto her to make a point, "you stay. Away. From me. Got it? Being successful and recognised by the professors will make me happy, but you open your big mouth every single time. I'm the happiest when you're far, far away." So now Haddie knew what made her happy and if she really had been honest about it, she would leave her alone - which Katherine doubted, so ONE single prank on her, and Katherine was reporting it to the Headmaster.

Since she was full and she wanted to beat the crowds to get into her bed early to wake up fresh tomorrow, she grabbed her bag and left without giving Haddie a chance to reply.

It wasn't very often that Hadley was stunned speechless, but this was one of those times. She sat there, staring at Mossy with a slight glisten to her eyes; her mouth hanging open. By the time she had recovered enough to respond, Mossy had already stormed out. "Okay..."

Haddie was aware of how awkward it was now, her sitting here alone after being told off like that. Painfully aware. So much for trying to be friends with the Ravenclaws that hate her for being her...Now did Kitridge see? She hoped he was watching at that moment. Hadley was never the type to rat anyone out, so there was little chance of her telling him the specifics of what happened when she met with him tomorrow, but if he saw it, then she wouldn't have to. And then maybe he'd get why she wore that shirt, why she so desperately wanted to be in the house she belonged in, like everyone else seemed to be.

The shock and hurt was quickly dissolving into seething anger. What the hell did she ever do to Mossy, or Jace, or Davie, or all the rest!? She hated this house just then. Hated the sorting hat for condemning her to it...hated these robes that didn't even belong to her...she...she needed to cool off. On her own. Away from all this Ravenclaw pride.

Discretely wiping her eyes, Hadley collected her bag and pulled out her iPod, immensely grateful for Professor Primeaux for showing her how to make it work off magic last year. She made her way to Rooney, not caring to hide her anger, and pulled off his robes before shoving them into his arms. "Here's your stupid robes back." She couldn't hide the emotion from her voice, nor did she try to. He had his robes back, she wore them while she was eating, and now she was out of here.

Without waiting for a reply, Haddie slipped on her headphones, hit play on her enchanted iPod and spun on her heels. Then she stormed off toward the doors.
