Roo offered the Head Girl a smile, gave her arm a squeeze too in extra congratulations because she was clearly about to address her house as their Head Girl. Miss Penelope Wright, Head Girl of Hogwarts. Their Head Girl. Well deserved.
Penelope asked the question that he had wanted to and so Roo waited for the younger Ravenclaw to ask. And in that time, he rolled up the sleeves on the robes she was wearing so she would be able to eat a little later without getting them dirty. He noted her congratulations on his badge, and figured this gesture was enough of a thank you.
"Thank you, Miss Katherine." He smiled, turning his head to look towards her. This time he had a badge and she wasn't able to witness him soaked from a toilet and furiously blushing and crying. The everything was in his way right now. He was coming out on top. Soz, Moss. The exchange between the two girls didn't get past him and he only raised an eyebrow. It wasn't cause to question or comment, nothing bad was happening and he knew neither of them would retaliate by crying. They could handle it.
Miss Janelle got a smile and a wave, tossing her a wrapped mint from his pocket to tide over the wait for food. See, he knew what people were struggling with when everyone was gathered in this hall, staring down upon the staff table and waiting for everything to fall into place and food to turn up so they could go to bed with full stomachs. The best nights sleep of the year...unless people were going to sleep after getting to kiss Miss Charlotte Kettleburn for the first time. THAT had been the best nights sleep of his life. And he hadn't been able to sleep at all that night. He'd just wanted to go find her again and give her that fish he had been holding onto. And maybe steal another of her kisses.
For lip gloss reasons. She had gooooood lip gloss.
... Was it good Prefect behaviour to run over to Gryffindor table and give her a kiss just to see what gloss she was wearing today?
No. No it was not.
BUT ALL HE COULD THINK ABOUT WAS THAT LIP GLOSS AND HOW HE NEEEEEEDED TO KNOW WHAT FLAVOUR IT WAAAAAS.
Deep breath... Deep breath... Ooh new student looking lost!
Placing his hands on Louise's shoulders, Rooney smiled before sitting down beside her, back against the table so he could get back up when he wanted or needed to. "The plates won't bite, kid." He looked towards the end of the table and smiled as Penelope spoke. "Our Head Girl might though. She's pretty wonderful."
Janelle was formulating her plan for the evening when she caught the eye of someone closer to her own age........and he was wearing a Prefect badge! Smiling to match the one directed at her, Janelle waved in return.
"Hey Mister Rooney, congratulations! Nice accessory you've got there," Janelle was really happy for her housemate. He was so nice and polite, always calling the girls Miss whatever. She guessed now she'd have to call him Prefect Rooney because Mister didn't quite seem to cut it anymore.
Then Rooney scored even more cool points with Janelle when he tossed her a mint. Catching the sweet, she quickly unwrapped it and popped it into her mouth.
"Thanks. How did you know I was starving?" Hopefully that would keep her going until it was time to eat.

For now she was going to check on the Ravenclaws who were already here.
"Hi Haddie!" Penelope looked over Haddie's clothes, out of uniform except for the robes that Rooney had given to her. "Why don't you have your uniform? " There was nothing scolding about this remark, just genuine curiosity. She sensed that something was up with Haddie, and this wasn't just a rebellious act. If Haddie was trying to defy school rules, she wouldn't have willingly put on Rooney's robes.
Azura! Penelope loved all the little eagles, and Azura had been the first student Penelope had helped as a prefect, when Azura had broken her nose at the train platform. Something seemed off about Azura tonight. "Hi Azura. Anything you want to talk about later?" If she didn't feel like talking that was okay.
Once there were more students at the table, Penelope moved to stand at the end of the table where everyone could see her. "Welcome back everyone! For those of you who are new here, welcome to Ravenclaw! I'm Penelope Wright, your Head Girl. You can come to me with any questions or concerns, and feel free to talk to me about anything any time. Last year we won both the house cup and the gobstones championship, and I'm proud of all of you for that. Let's try to make this year another great year!" Now she should go find Professor Flamsteed, wherever he was.
Then another question was answered when Penelope appeared and gave her welcome speech. Head Girl! That made three Ravenclaw Head Girls in a row. That was a very good thing indeed.
Getting up from her seat, Janelle walked over to the new HG.
"Congratulations Penelope. I was kinda hoping they'd choose you for the job. Good Luck this year." Janelle couldn't imagine what it must be like to be Head Girl or Head Boy........all that responsibility. Well, she had no doubt that Penelope could handle it. Looking around, she tried to see how might have snagged the Head Boy gig. Maybe she would pay a visit to the other tables soon, just to check things out.
