He dislikes magic because he wasn't very good at it to start with and kept seeing everyone getting spells he couldn't. Mad him kinda sad but the sadness turned into stubborn resentment and now he'd rather never use magic unless he absolutely has to. At Hogwarts magic IS required so...hates Hogwarts.
He never attends Charms or Transfig because of how heavily magic based they are....which got him on Academic probation but he doesn't...care? He'd rather never cast. Finds ways around it in his classes
