This...help means a lot to me, so I’ve decided to return the favour.” He started, as he watched Harmony take down notes. “Tancred is too busy at the moment to get his go signal, so I thought maybe I should ask you for a permission to let Mr. Thomas Black and his son to visit our Dragonology lab? His son is very interested in dragons, and that...I want to help Thomas earn some...daddy points.” Daddy points? Did that just came out of his mouth? Mordred blinked and shook his head at his choice of words.
The dragonologist then took another set of parchments with pictures stuck to it and showed those to Harmony. “Going back to our first Department meeting, you mentioned about discussing office ideas with you,” he said gesturing to the next set of files, “My conversation with Mr. Black gave me ideas for our office. One would be this,” he said pointing to the first picture. “I was thinking of opening up a hallway parallel to our Dragonology lab with protective and unbreakable glass along the wall. That way, if our colleagues, or their visitors especially school children are interested in viewing eggs, or the work we do in the lab, they can do so without actually entering the room. It should save us the hassle without sacrificing transparency.” Sharing is caring, right? Mordred is very interested with this idea, and hopefully he’d get Harmony to say yes to this. “We can call it the Dragonology Viewing Hall...that is if you needed any name for it.” Mordred shrugged, and eyed the next parchment on the table. “Now this one, it’s just an added attraction to our reception area. Do you remember the Plant Adoption Fair we attended before?” Mordred asked, “I was able to propagate the Java Moss I adopted from Mr. Messer, and here’s the result.” The dragonologist looked at the picture first, grinned, and showed it to Harmony. He was very proud of his work. “It’s in our house right now, and I thought of donating it to the office. I think it would be brilliant to display it in our shared reception area with DERP. We can also add fresh water creatures to it. I was thinking of Plimpies.” It’s harmless so they’re all good with that. “What do you think?” Harmony was more than willing to allow members of the other departments come and see the work they were doing on level four, though her first priority was always the safety of the creatures being looked after here, no matter how short their stay. "You have my permission to invite Mr. Black and his son to come and observe, so long as they follow the procedures of the lab and do not handle any of the equipment or creatures directly. May I ask what the nature of the research is?" And while she was at it, she made a note to get some visitor passes made up for the two.
What really held Harmony's attention were the additions to their level that the dragon enthusiast had come up with. The department head listened, eyes trained on the files. He'd done good work, and his plans were well thought out and practical. She was especially interested in the Java Moss display. It represented both departments on the level and would be a pleasant sight for members of the ministry, as well as visitors. "I think you've done a wonderful job and while I'll need to see what funds we have for the viewing hall in particular, I'm interested in moving forward to make them a reality here." She smiled, continuing on. "I do think you should share the Java Moss news with Emmalee Howell, get her take on adding the tank to the reception area. I'm sure she'll be on board but I think it's only right to ask her approval, too." But other than that, she was on board completely. "Excellent work."
