He nodded his head with each completed circle traced in the air and refrained from making any comment about the timing being more spot on that previous attempts. No distractions, the professor knew how that went with practicing magic...even if he was often a distraction onto himself and needed to lock himself in a room with literally nothing in it as a student to achieve anything. The Room of Requirement had been an incredibly convenience to him - even if some would argue that the shape it had taken for the young astronut bore a striking resemblance to certain rooms in St. Mungo's.
Jumping to his feet, tennis ball in hand, Airey approached the Slytherin with a sideways grin. "Only one way to know for sure," he mused while holding the ball up high above them. Waiting for the traces of light to disappear, Airey released the ball and watched it fall. It wasn't a terribly significant change, but still a noticeable one. "Well done, Mr. Song," he nodded. "I'd say you reached approximately Venus level gravitational resistance there." Give or take a few meters per second. The tennis ball again. Jaemin stared at it, biting his lip a bit. Though he didn't realise it, he was holding in a biiiig breath... one he let out excitedly when the tennis ball didn't fall as quickly as it would normally. He had really done it!
He grinned up at the professor, bouncing on the tips of his toes and clutching his wand in both hands. "I did it!" He had done advanced magic. "This is so cooooool! It really worked!"
He jumped a bit, to test it. Just like the tennis ball had demonstrated, it wasn't anywhere near as good as the Professor had done... but there was still a change, and that was all that mattered. It was something. A starting point! And it was the first bit of advanced magic that he had succeeded in doing. The small Slytherin beamed, practically glowing with happiness.
"Is there a way to choose how much the gravity changes? Is there something I need to do differently to make it stronger, or does it just go on intent?" He could tooooooootally intend for it to be stronger! He had sooooo many questions, and he wanted answers to them aaaaaall, Professor. "Is there a specific spell to turn it off, too? Does it turn itself off after a certain period of time, or does it stay until someone fixes it? Does it only work in closed rooms, or can you do it outside too?"
Bounce. Bounce. Bounce. EXCITED BOUNCE. |
