The small Slytherin kept repeating the spell, doing his best to get the pronunciation correct. It took him quite a few tries, but he finally managed to get it all the way right, and he ran through it half a dozen times more just to make sure. Spells were hard. He much preferred plants and potions. The small boy picked up his wand again, and set himself to trying the movement that went with it.
This part was much easier to do. He liked waving his wand around, no matter how he was meant to do it. Swishes and flicks, specific patterns, all sorts of things. It was much easier than having to say stuff. Jay repeated the motion a few times, humming happily to himself, before he looked at his little clay Niffler. He could put it all together now... and he'd have a fun little friend.
"I can't wait to play with you," he whispered to it, patting it on the head before pointing his wand at it. He could do this... he could DO it. Point, flourish, and... "Piertotum Locomotor Annexus!"
...nothing happened. Nothing happened and Jaemin was extremely upset about it almost immediately. NO GLOWING. No moving. Nothing exciting at all. Why couldn't he do this?! He just wanted to be good at it... The boy sighed and put his chin on his desk, staring at the still clay Niffler blankly. Why couldn't he get the spells on the first try? Other people got to do it!! Very gently, he poked his Niffler's extended nose with his wand.
"One more time?" he mumbled to the squishy creature. "You better move this time, okay? You really have to..."
He pointed his wand at it again, and with the flourish, and all the focus and hope in the world, softly spoke the spell. "Piertotum Locomotor Annexus."
...did it turn blue? Jaemin's eyes went wide and he blinked rapidly at it for a moment; it went back to its normal colour so quickly that he wasn't quite sure. He held up a finger, just away from its nose, but not touching it. "Move?"
...
ITS NOSE TOUCHED HIS FINGER!!!! Jaemin immediately lit up, though his glowing did not fade like the familiar's had. "I did it!" |
